Qatar's Al-Gharafa club want to sign QPR's Djibril Cissé permanently
    • Tal Ben Haim and DJ Campbell released by relegated club
    • Manager Harry Redknapp wants to re-sign Andros Townsend

Djibril Cissé is wanted by the Qatari club Al-Gharafa on a permanent basis and the Queens Park Rangers striker will give serious consideration to the proposal. The 31-year-old spent the second half of this past season on loan at Al-Gharafa and reportedly made a good impression both on and off the field.

Al-Gharafa are attempting to structure a transfer for when Cissé's loan officially ends on 30 June and QPR, who are cutting costs after their relegation from the Premier League, are thought to be receptive to a deal. Cissé has one year to run on his contract at Loftus Road.

QPR have released Tal Ben Haim, DJ Campbell, Rob Hulse and Radek Cerny while Fábio da Silva and Andros Townsend are at the end of their loans from Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur respectively. The QPR manager Harry Redknapp would like to re-sign Townsend on loan although it is unclear whether Tottenham will agree.

Many other players face uncertain futures at QPR, with Joey Barton keen to remain at Marseille, where he played on loan last season. Bursaspor have the option to turn Anton Ferdinand's loan into a permanent move but they have not yet indicated a wish to do so. Ale Faurlin, who played at Palermo from January, is the returning loanee most likely to feature in the Championship.

Júlio César, the Brazil goalkeeper, is prominent on the list of the high earners Redknapp wants to shift but there have, as yet, been no offers for him.

    No offers fr Cesar...

And I'll be glad to keep Faurlin. I thought fans were so quick to turn their backs on him. He has the potential to be a good player but couldn't flourish in a ****ed up team. If we can have some stability (that old chestnut) and a good team ethic, he'll do well again... same as a few other players.

Townsend in the championship, he would rip the place up! Deserves to play in the Premiership though.

I tend to agree with Col, if you can motivate Cisse he is still a Class striker but I'd still let him go, motivating seemed to be a problem in the EPL so imagine what it would be like in the Championship.

How much of the season will Townsend miss through suspension ?

As Arry would say, don't you mean, Triffic team ethic?
Also, thought Caesar salad was going to Arsenal?
I'd like him to stay but can't see it.

I can't see Cesar or Cisse wanting to play in the Championship. Although, with Cisse, it would be one of those situations where it might be better for his career at this age for him to have a great season in the championship and try to promote himself back into a top league.

Cesar in the Championship would be a liability. Lovely camera-worthy saves but no command of his area whatsoever.

Cisse can **** right off. Would rather Hulse who will put the effort in and won't get sent off every other week.

Cisse with great service would be wonderful. However when balls were played through to him he was offside so often that the likes of Adel stopped passing it to him and he got the hump.

It's still a mystery to me how Hughes got Cisse to play a pivotal role in his first 6 months but then completely lost him in his second. I can only assume it was another example of players getting jealous as another batch of even more highly paid wasters arrived at the club.

There could be a few other factors there mate! Strikers in particular, have periods when they can't stop scoring, and others where they cannot. I heard too he had a marriage break up last summer.

Townsend was suspended for 4 months backdated to 23rd May 2013. However, 3 months of that ban were suspended until July 2016. Therefore, "he will not miss a game" (Source: BBC).

Totally agree, people forget what he did when we stayed up. Last year he was going through a marriage break up and anyone who's been through that can tell you what a distraction it is! Scoring goals for fun in championship I'm sure we'd see him back at his best!
