Knackered - I think you'll find that even though he was brought to court several times he was never convicted. I think we need to be sure we are quoting facts when we are capable of influencing peoples opinions of religions.

Agnostic myself. Until it's proven that a supreme being exists I will continue to 99.9999999% doubt their existence and continue to believe religion is one of the most divisive things on the planet though I appreciate the hope and comfort it gives some people. As long as it's not forced down my throat or causes harm then I'm happy for people to believe what they want.

As for life on other planets, if the universe is infinite then there is an infinite chance of there being a planet like ours and therefore life on other planets is a certainty in my eyes.

Don't dwell on it. Just get on with life I say.

Now if they had a striker to partner Michu that we could acquire for a few beads and a keg of liquor.

I think we may be waiting a while given the lack of noise coming out of the Liberty. And not sure what FIFA rules are regarding using other species in your team. In fact do you think they specify it anywhere in their rules? I'm sure there are plenty of skilful dogs out there........no I'm not talking ladies football.

I was once told that 'Only the fool has said in his heart, there is no God', and whether you don't like the concept of a creator or purposer is an individual problem as it doesn't alter the fact that questions need answering, the fact is how did we get here? who created matter from energy? where did the universe come from, and lastly how do you define man's consciousness, being an atheist gives you very little substance to these searching questions, yet it's very true that history is littered with the blood of the innocent ones, in the name of religion.

My Grandfather went through two world wars, and I remember him saying to me 'Phill you will never find an Atheist in the trenches', always remembered that, though he was Anglican, and I was just a child at the time. One thing I'm sure of though is, the days of religion are numbered, and it is only a matter of time before the Anglo-American world power uses the UN to destroy world Religion, it will still not answer the question though of a Superior being, and you will always find those that like to call themselves Atheist because to consider themselves inferior to a higher life form, very unpalatable.

I suspect from that question, that it is probable best you don't know the answer, as you probable couldn't handle it!...........<laugh> What was before the Universe? Scientist tell us it's expanding, but what is it expanding into? and who or what maintains it's order?..............<ok>

But surely an 'all loving and caring God' wouldn't have allowed such catastrophic wars to take place. The same can be said for e.g. the Bubonic Plagues.

The man that arrested Himmler was an atheist.
Christians make up the majority of the British Armed Forces, but the largest 'religious' group outside of that faith is those who declare that they have no religion:
    http://www.dasa.mod.uk/modintranet/UKDS/UKDS2009/pdf/c2/Chap2Table13.pdf
The Americans even have an organisation for atheists in their armed forces and their society is pretty anti-atheist.
    http://militaryatheists.org/atheists-in-foxholes/

That first quote's from the Bible itself and it's the equivalent of a Coke advert saying "The fool has said in his heart that he prefers Pepsi", in my opinion.
Most atheists that I know don't have a problem with the concept of a deity, they've just found no evidence for the existence of one.
None of those questions are answered by inserting god, either. That just creates more questions, unless you decide that god's unknowable, which prevents people from seeking out answers, for me.

Pretty sure it isn't. Doesn't fit any god definition that I'm aware of, anyway.

Nope. Pretty sure it's still just a lightbulb.
I'm sure you're trying to make some kind of point here, but it's passing me by. Would you care to expand upon what you've said?

Yep. if some one wants to call a light bulb a god, then to them its a god. No one knows the answers so no one is in a position to question another persons beliefs. Unless of course you have the answer - which will probably make you God.

I'm sorry, but I don't agree. We have decent answers to some questions and we should continue to ask more, in order to find out more answers.
Asking for some evidence to support a belief shouldn't be seen as an attack. It wouldn't be in virtually any other circumstance.

People are entitled to believe in whatever they want to, for the most part, as long as it doesn't lead to them harming anyone else.
However, if they want to impose their beliefs upon others or convince others of the legitimacy of those beliefs, then they should be prepared to be challenged upon them.
If someone just believed that the moon was made of cheese, then there'd be no good reason to either join him or accept that he'd come to that conclusion for a good reason.
If he could demonstrate that this was the case or provide some evidence for his belief, then he'd have a point.
