The first horses to run under Lady Cecil's name will compete at Newbury, Nottingham, Yarmouth and Leopardstown on Thursday. It will be a very emotional yard. Im sure Sir Henry will be looking down telling his wife what she is doing wrong lol. Surely her best chance has to have a winner is- Song Bird 16.55 @ Yarmouth - the Great Sir Henry had a way with the Fillys whether it was his temperament or whether he was just so calm with them, he got the best out of them even the hardest of ones. And she will demonstrate this tomorrow, she shed her maiden tag with any amount in hand at Salisbury on her racecourse debut last month and she can go from strength to strength now pitched into the handicap ranks Frankels half brother out of Oasis Dream- Morpheus is also out tomorrow at NottinghamHe has improved in each of his three visits to the racecourse thus far and the form of his runner-up finish at Goodwood has taken a boost with the third winning since Which is also interesting she sends Tickled Pink over to Ireland to compete in the Group 3 Ballyogan stakes- she won the group Three Abernant Stakes at Newmarket on her penultimate start and is still open to plenty of - her ninth in a hot renewal of the Group 2 Duke Of York last month was not a bad run either in a G1! She is back down to a G3 so will take alot of beating- Three singles & 3 doubles and a treble for me! Good Luck Lady Cecil in your 1st day!
On the back of the stable's winner at Yarmouth today, I'm told that BONANZA CREEK will go well in the 1.50 at Newbury
Interesteing to see Lady Nouf in action at Newbury tomorrow see can she boost the Talent form at all having finished half a lentgh off before the Oaks run.
Going to put the same one up as PN, not sponging . Backed her for the Oaks (which I think I mentioned on here) but she's had her problems. It's not fair for me to say more than that. She works with Emirates Queen though. That should say it all. Based on work she's a Group horse at least. Bonanza Creek the name.
Newbury 5.05 Pivotal Silence 16/1 e/w Leopardstown 7.30 Boston Rocker 12/1 e/w 8.30 Abbey Vale 6/1 NAP 9.00 Rock N Rover 5/1 Haydock 8.50 Rusty Rocket 16/1 e/w
Hear hear - I don't know if you saw the irish indepednent yesterday PN but if you can get your hands on it (may be online) there were 2 beautifully written pieces about his contribution to irish racing.
i'm sure the hands have been on the tiller for a while now, so expect no real 'regime' change, and yes all fans of racing will be pleased, irrespective of the gambling side.....
From what I understand, talking to people in the know, although Henry had not been out in the yard or on the gallops for a few weeks he had certainly been actively involved in race planning for his horses and was even still writing up the work list last Friday. Everything we will see over the next few weeks will be as a result of his work.
Monrning, troops. Hope evryone well. Really fancy one today (and I don’t think I’ve said that since Lieutenant Miller back in April) across the county line at Newbury. ROMANTIC SETTINGS (3.25), what a lovely name for a filly by the way, has run 2 corking races so far this term. First time up she won a handicap, giving weight, by 1.5 lengths (front pair 6 lengths clear of the 3rd home) from an animal who has gone in twice since and then last time stepped up on this to finish a highly respectable runner-up in the Group 3 Musidora Stakes at York. The winner that day, Liber Nauticus, didn’t appear to handle Epsom’s camber last time in the Oaks but the 3rd home has since won a conditions heat very nicely so the form, at this stage, looks sound. Romantic Settings appears to be a hugely progressive filly and I think she can enhance this profile further by obliging this afternoon. Meanwhile, at a much lower level and with much less confidence CRYSTAL MIST (5.05), another lovely name for a filly, appeals at huge odds (50/1 currently) at the same venue. Her form figures read a somewhat despondent 0-00 but judging on her initial run on a racecourse she may be better than a mere 64 rated performer. Not a huge distance behind some quality animal in a £300k sales race (3 lengths off the 90 rated Asgardella, 3.5 lengths off the 84 rated Concise and 5 lengths behind the 94 perched Valois Girl) if on her ‘A’ game the filly could surprise everyone. Good luck all.
Only bet for me today is Cushion in the 2-50 at Newbury. it has to be said that it really is not a lovely name for a filly!
John Gosden’s Cushion! No, not something that stirs the old spirits. Also, is proving very expensive to follow having been a beaten favourite in her last 4 races! Must go very close today though, surely?!?
Quite busy for a change. Although this time of the year is usually our ‘peak period’ and I would imagine things will tail off again in a couple of months thus allowing me more time to spend at the old ‘top table’!
Ought to just add that SEA THE STARS' second runner makes her debut for Johnny Murtagh at Leopardstown tonight - CALORIE in the 5.55.
Managed to grab some 14s e/w on Bonanza Creek this morning - much appreciated PRINCESSWISE Just preparing for a colonoscopy this afternoon, been drinking a foul substance called Moviprep all morning and dashing to the toilet ..................... I think I deserve a winner after that
I got 14s on Paddy Power about an hour ago. She's now a best price 9s. Apparently she is, I quote, "an utter cow", but has been working with Emirates Queen and they think she has a lot of ability.
I see Paddy Power have revealed the headline ‘Ascot Special’. I quote ‘Money back on all losers if Animal Kingdom wins the Queen Anne Stakes’. Win singles only and maximum refund of £100 is the small print.
