A week today the fixtures are announced so will put them on here (have to be careful as there are all sorts of restrictions re: posting fixtures on forums). People can place predictions, talk about preferences etc are on here. I thought we'd get Sunderland at home, but I've been told it's Norwich away, suits me as I have a wedding to attend up Norf that day Would like Arsenal (H) 2nd half of the season and Spurs (A) second half of the season. Preferably both Manc clubs (A) 1st half of the season ala 10/11 season
How do you know about Norwich away being first up? Would suit me to a tee as i'm going to China for a year in September and I've never done Norwich so yep... I'd take that! I'd love Cardiff away first up though. That would be mental!
The fixtures were done a while ago, they just aren't released to the public till a certain date so there's always a few leaks. There were rumours last year that we had Wigan away and Arsenal had Sunderland at home and it came to fruition. There's no chance of any high risk game/derby being on the opening day. There will be a large police presence when West Ham/United/Chelsea/Spurs play them.
Do you know the full set of opening day fixtures DL and how did you find out, oh and in 10/11 the game between us at SB was 1st, has been for 4 out of the last 5 seasons if memory serves right.
They are formulated this week then released to the newspapers a day or two early under strict embargo so that production, art desk and layout designers and subs can proof and press the fixture list pullouts early. But they will be embargoed until a certain time to the general public. They are known to clubs a week or two in advance so they can negotiate date changes with police, Premier league, FA, transport police etc
Yeah but when you play teams does matter. Defending Champions Chelsea were scheduled to play Tottenham, Arsenal and United back-to-back over the Winter period in 10/11. Make of that what you will. Quite sure United has a ridiculous backlog of fixtures playing Chelsea, Everton and Liverpool away back to back not so long ago as well
Not really. You don't have to play v 12 men at Old Trafford every season... and I am not taking about the Stretford 'End'
Friend of mine who's a united fan said that the united website showed Arsenal (h) on 17/08 and Villa (h) on 24/08. Said he saw these on the site when he was sorting community shield tix. Be interesting to see if he's right!! So the SSN reports showing newly promoted chairmen waiting by the fax machine on the day of the fixture announcements is a thing of the past then??
