Aluko was the SPL's best player not long ago. And yes Rosenior is a defender but not a CB.

I haven't really been following this thread - but every year one of the promoted Premier League clubs is linked with one of our players and every year we get fan debates about whether our player has more ambition going to play for that promoted team than he does staying with us.

It is annoying because we quietly go about our business, getting turnover of £60m-£70m every year, snipping prospects such as Joe Ledley from the likes of Cardiff. Next thing ya know Cardiff have a single good season, get promoted, their turnover goes from £30m to £80m in one fell swoop - and now Joe Ledley has 'a lack of ambition' playing for a small club like Celtic. I'm not saying I blame Hull for going for our players, or even think Hooper would be taking a step down, it is just frustrating that a single good season for a historically smaller club allows them to pick off our best players (and be arrogant about it).

    Serious for a sec

Thats the problem with the spl, hooper has a year left and wants to play in the epl, and even a team like hull can offer him that which increases his england and bigger club chances.. It's funy to be arrogant about it because i adore rangers but even we took their best player a year ago...

Personally i don't think hooper will come as much as id love it

The fact is, Celtic are seen as a step in the right direction for players who can't quite make their way to the prem. Celtic offer them the chance to prove themselves in Europe, which Championship clubs can't (Except Wigan). Then players jump at the chance to join the premiership when they can.

SkyBet: We've seen a significant swing in the Robert Lewandowski market. He is now in to 4/7 to join Bayern Munich, with former favourites Manchester United out to 9/4. Elsewhere Gary Hooper has been slashed from 25/1 to evens to sign for Hull City following a string of sizeable bets. Check out all the latest transfer markets.
    Looking likely.

define arrogant - every club in the world when linked with a player will of course say the player stands more chance of an International call-up, the league they play in is better than the league where the player is current plying his trade. I'm certain if Celtic were being linked with a star striker at Ajax they would be "bigging up" their club, and Ajax fans would call them arrogant, that is football. Whether some of the comments from Celtic are bitterness that we (a little club on the North Sea) will be getting more media exposure, the ability to attract better players (sorry arrogance alert) due to the league we are in, and possibly more tv revenue, plus we have a far nicer manager.

Forgetting the mental implications it had on the players, the league was always lost at that point,

Doesnt matter though, you've won the league guaranteed for a long while now which is a reason why hooper wants to challenge himself.. Week in week out, and thats not an insult to celtic more of their unfortunate surroundings, blame ya hibs and yerst johnstones

Aluko was NEVER the SPLs best player. Look its just annoying how newly promoted clubs think they can buy our players on the cheap and don't show them the respect they deserve, just becuase they haven't played in the EPL, Thats arrogance nothing else. Now i'm no expert on Hull, but how many Hull players ahve palyed in the EPL before? I know Hull has but its a different team now.

Your claiming Aluko is your best player, which i find hard to believe yet hes never played in the EPL, why isn't he a risk? Hooper in his last season in the Championship scored 19 goals with a team that finished 20th and was the 3rd top goal scorer, hasn't he proved himself just as much as the current hull team at the same level with a lesser team?

As Mostyn pointed out, not even the other players in that awful league voted for a Celtic player as player of the year. Says it all tbh.

Players go to Celtic purely to be able to say they've played in a CL game and won stuff. The fact that they qualify by default with zero effort, really achieve nothing in the CL, then win trophies unless a seriously crappy team beats them in a shocker doesn't mean those players have any ambition at all, it's simply an easy way to earn a lot of money without breaking into a sweat. If those players were ambitious they'd play elsewhere.

It may surprise you to hear, but I would much prefer the SPL and Scottish football in general to be of a higher quality and more competitive, it would benefit the whole of the British Isles. Unfortunately, because that would ruin the vested interests of at the moment 1 club, but in a couple of years time, the other club, it will sadly never happen. Glasgow has killed Scottish football and I don't see it ever recovering.
