Is that sarcasm? If the SPL was a good league there'd be plenty of good Scottish players to choose from for the Scottish national side. I don't know who's actually in the Scottish national team, but I'm aware that there's a good number of ENGLISH players in there who qualify via grandparents, championship players, obviously there are some Scottish players, how many of which play in the premier league or championship, and how many of the Scottish national team play in the SPL?

Look no one can dispute that the EPL is a far stronger league than the SPL (not even drunken ones) and that Celtic did execpionally well in the last CL campaign, but if Hooper holds any idea of playing for England he has to jump ship to an EPL side.
He remains unproven at EPL level over a long season and i would think like to prove himself. What more can he possibly gain remaining at Celtic, a brief adventure in the CL at best, then trips to sides who would struggle in the Conference.
If he is a true pro he would want to test himself against some of the best week in week out.........hence the EPL......Marlon King might be a nice fit :emoticon-0136-giggl

What about your bid for the PSV strikers? How many strikers do you need?

If they didnt have any other meaningful or slightly challenging games to play, like Celtic, then they would do AT LEAST as well as Celtic in the CL.

I know you won't admit it but the Glasgow teams have over the years totally destroyed Scottish football, both at league and at national level. You might enjoy the domination, and total control over everything north of the border but it's killed you off as a football nation.

Why do you think the decent Scottish managers headed south?

Arrogance? From a Glasgow fan? You're hilarious.

So you reckon the likes of Huddersfield and Barnsley would beat Barcelona, Benfica and Spartak Moscow?

    <laugh>

Seriously man, stay away from the drugs <ok>

You can't say he would either, its the same to people saying Hooper would be a risk at 4m for Hull isn't it? Based on previous signings celtic have made from previous EPL players coming to Celtic it would be a bad move for me, it never seems to work out, maybe they think they are in for an easy ride or soemthing i don't know, i'd rather a young hungry player than a player whos on the way out.

Some of the players that come to mind are: Marc Antoine-Fortune, freddie Ljungberg, Daryl Murphy, then theres also palyers we've sold on to Championship/EPL clubs who i wouldn't let near a Celtic team like Danny Fox, Jos Hooveild and Gary Caldwell.

Chester, Rosenior, Meyler, Brady, Aluko and Elmohamedy (assuming we permanently sign him) I reckon would get in your starting 11. <ok>

Actually i agree with most of that, and it needs to change. Also you forget the greed of the men at the SFA who ruined the Scottish TV Revenue when they signed with setanta.

We aren't saying Hooper is world class, but hes proved himself at a level and that deserves a bit of respect, and not showing that becuase he plays in the SPL is arrogance i'm afraid

I don't know about that actually. I know they were friendlies, but we struggled to beat Dundee United, drew with Hearts and lost to Aberdeen in recent years. This was when we were in both the Championship and the Premier League. It's not as bad a league as everybody makes it out to be, but it's still a million miles from any of the bigger professional leagues.

I think most people's arguments could be settled by looking at Ross County this year. They finished comfortably in the top half without breaking the bank having pissed the First Division. Now, if you were to take their first team players, which English teams would you put them in?

You are kidding, Aluko would easily get into your team. He wasn't a reject at any SPL club, he was bought from Aberdeen by Rangers, where he excelled. He left because of the Newco bullshit and we were able to sign him for free. The others mentioned above would also get in without much trouble.

I think you and us take a different meaning from the term 'proven'.

At Celtic he has proved he's a good player and can cut it amongst the best on his day.

To us, proven means how often his day is amongst the best over the course of a season.

I think that's where we're going wrong here, misunderstanding each other.

There's no doubt that he's a good player, he's proven that so far in his career. And I think he probably will cope in the premiership just fine. But at anything over 4/5 million I would start to call it a gamble and see what else is on offer for the same money before committing.

£4 million !!!! For a bloke who usually scores goals against pub teams ..... very much a gamble I'd say.
