I could get a game in the SPL. It's a joke. Qualifying by default for CL, and having no meaningful opposition the rest of the year means nowt and you achieve no more than a lower half championship team in the same circumstances would achieve.

how can you bang on about quality when Joe Ledley, decent at best championship player, no interest from an EPL side yet thrives in the SPL. I understand your love for your club but the EPL is without question a step up in quality for any SPL player.

 

I think you mis read that, i meant Wanyama and Forester could walk into any team in the EPl and i think Matthews will in a couple of years hes still only 20

 

Ledley turned down Stoke and Roma to sign for Celtic.

I would say Doyle has got what it takes to be a success in Scotland if Celtic bought I reckon he would easily score twenty a season if not more.

I'm sure you're aware how much we bid in January, and I can't see us giving up on him despite signing RvW. Some of our board believe/have been told he's our top target this summer, so I fully expect we'll be bidding too.

Where he ends up will be interesting, its a balancing act between the familiarity he has with your area, against the (arguably) stronger side we have. I think both teams can offer similar fees and wages.

On price, I can't see Celtic getting as much as they would have in January, so £6mil would be absolute top end to me. With the bidding starting early too, it plays into our hands as they've plenty of time to replace him.

Forster is a good goalie but he wouldn't walk into any premier league side, Newcastle let him go for starters. He'd probably get into half the premier league sides. But there's a huge hint at the difference in quality with Forster himself, wants to move back to the premier league so he can prove himself for the England squad. If the SPL and maybe a few games in the CL each season was good enough to class a player as 'proven', as in proven at the highest level of the game, he wouldn't have to move back to the premier league would he. Enough said.

I'd agree with that, but we guage our season on Euopean Success, would Doyle progess us in the CL? i don't see that, SPL good signing, no doubt, but for Europe, i think hes past it and with no sell on value, not really what Celtic as a club would be looking for. I'd be very surprised if he was seen as a replacement for Hooper
