I personally dont think £4.7 million will be enough.

    Hooper's on Twitter - @HOOP588

Seems he went on holiday with his bird on June 7th, so probably isn't around at the moment.

Arrogance of English football fans never ceases to amaze.

When Hooper played with S****horpe he was the 3rd top goal scorer that season with 19 goals for a team that finished 20th and had a better goal ratio than Andy Carrol whos team won the league. Hes went on to become a Champions League player with Celtic, scored plenty of goals in the CL & EL over the years, were as Andy carrol who went for 35 million is the biggest flop the world has ever seen. Hooper is twice the player he ever was. What exactly does Hooper have to prove? hes done more in Europe than most players in the English league, who've been given a chance in Europe

If you really think we are going to let our top goal scorer go for less than 5 million then you really are delusional and showing a complete disrespect for the player and Celtic. We knocked back 7m in January, so he'll go for 5-7m in the summer

If use sign him then good luck to the player and Hull of course, just don't think you will sign him on the cheap or come out with this "hes got something to prove nonsense", that can be said about any player in any league. Hull City have something to prove, back in the EPL, where as Celtic and the players have proved themselves in the Champions league (Unlike a certain EPL Team who have been in the CL), which obviously raises the value of the players.

We got further than Man City and Chelsea. Just one of their players cost more than our entire squad.

£4.7m isn't cheap and as much as he looks the part, he still hasn't played at the top level of English football. The CL is all well and good, but he wasn't playing in the Champions League 38 times a season, it's about his consistency against top quality teams. If he can keep up the form he's had for Celtic, he'll be in the England squad no problem.

£4.7m for a player who hasn't played in the Premier League and who's contract is up at the end of the season is a pretty good offer, I imagine there'll be add ons as well so it could be well in excess of £5m. I'd be surprised if it wasn't accepted.

Considering our bid is apparently £4.7m, it's hardly a million miles from your £5-7m valuation.

Hull City fans will be universally in favour of him joining us, but the fact remains that he's never played in the Premier League, so having some concern about his ability to play at that level week in week out is not arrogance, it's common sense.

It proves that a team with a fraction of the budget of English teams making the last 16 of the CL and beating Barcelona along the way is "proving yourself".

It's also the third time we've reached the last 16 of the CL in the past seven seasons.

Given Celtics resources and how we had to rebuild after Mowbery destroyed the team we more than proved ourselves. Define failure? in the last decade Celtic have been in a European final and reached the last 16 of the CL on 3 ocasions, i wouldn't call that failure for any team anywhere in Europe

unfortunately there is always going to be question marks hanging over any players coming from the Scottish league as barring Celtic and rangers (until recently) the standard of opposition is very poor.

This is true. Celtic did win the SPL by 16 points last season. Remind me, how many points did a poor Man Utd win the league by?

Celtic did well in the Champions League and Hooper scored a fair few goals. But obviously there's justification in being uncertain of his ability in the Prem, because the majority of SPL clubs would struggle in the Championship, maybe even League One.

Celtic do well in what is a poor league. Celtic make some very astute signings which they can sell for a larger fee (Hooper, Wanyama). If we were signing Hooper from Scunny, I'd agree it would be a bigger gamble, but he does score. I agree about Hooper proving himself ie Champions league and strike rate, but he is unproven in the EPL, which is regarded as the league to do the business.

The defensive stance & pure bias from Scottish football fans never ceases to amaze me either.

Even if you love your club and you've supported them all your life.. how you can't accept that a newly promoted side spending £5m-7m on a SPL player is a risk is beyond me.

Yes yes yes you're a CL side.. but only because your league is ****e and you happen to be the best side in it! If we were in the SPL I'm sure we'd be a CL side too, it wouldn't make us any better.

Thats a complete utter tragic comparison. One of, or the best club in the world compared to... Celtic. Don't go there.
I reckon half of our players now would walk straight into the Celtic team.

I dont believe £4.7mill is enough, but its not wide of the mark. Don't fool yourselves. Your on the verge of signing Balde & Carlton Cole (supposedly) if thats not recruiting back for losing a striker then I don't know what is.
    Brace yourselves for more bids.

Yet they got pumped out the CL at the same stage as Celtic.

The point you made originally is that Celtic have not proved themselves in the CL. I would suggest that they have. I'd also argue that the current Man Utd is the worst to win the EPL since Fergie won his first title.
