I don't see how two of his goals being in the same match changes anything? Either way, not sure I'd want to see either player here come next season, will only result in less time for Rodallega to get on the pitch, who is infinitely better than both listed.

I'm not sure that more gametime for Rodallega is the answer to our problems. I don't think I see him as any more than a squad player who can do a job from time to time, I'm not sure I'd see him as 'infinitely better' than anyone (except, perhaps, me). If we could turn the clock back on Santa Cruz and get him in his Blackburn form, he'd be a fantastic signing, but he's unlikely to play like that on the evidence of recent seasons, so we're better steering clear of him. Even if we wanted to keep Petric, he wants to leave in order to get first team football and his contract is up, so that's that.

It doesn't was just saying, that's all. But statistically their records are almost identical. Petrics goals per game ratio last season was 0.25 and Santa Cruz was 0.26. Hardly a cigarette paper between them.

Sounds as though his price tag has gone up to £4m and we have lost interest -

"PSV Eindhoven have confirmed there is 'real' interest in Ola Toivonen, amid claims that Norwich City have agreed a fee for the Sweden international.

The 26-year-old forward has just one year left on his current deal at the Philips Stadion, and he is looking to leave. The Dutch giants have told him to sign a new deal or he will be training with the youth side from the start of next season.

"The asking price is too high. I've said it before and I continue to say it," said Toivonen, about PSV wanting a reported £4million. However, despite the player's protests, reports claim that Norwich have agreed terms with PSV."

Apparently we are in for Payet who plays for Lille.

''Fulham and Fenerbahce have joined Roma and Marseille in the race to sign Lille's France international midfielder Dimitri Payet.Fulham boss Martin Jol is on the lookout for a goalscoring midfielder and has been impressed by the Reunion-born star's tally of 31 league goals in his last three seasons.''

I think it would be a good signing although i doubt we will be able to compete with Roma and Marseille for his signing.

Well, a lot of players want to come to the Premier League, that's one thing that might be a plus for us. According to wikipedia he's another winger. If that's true then I'd rather have us spend money in the centre. Other than that, he looks like he could be a good one.

Wolves have apparently told us that they want £4m for him (according to the Daily Star). Not surprised they're pushing his price up after the way they played 'hard ball' with Fletcher and Jarvis last transfer window.

Wolves paid £3m for him but want to off-load him because he's on £20k pw. So maybe room for negotiation.

Hull have made a bid, thought to be £4.5m, for Gary Hooper. He's out of contract in a year, so Celtic may be willing to sell for less than the £7m they turned down from Norwich last year. Anywhere between those two figures would be worth us making a bid. With no disrespect intended to Hull, an established Premier League team could well be more appealing than a newly promoted one, so you'd have to think we'd have a chance of getting him.

We seem to be linked with every young winger in football! We are interested in Nathan Redmond according to the Daily Mail.

He would be a good signing if you ask me, I saw him play against Palace earlier in the season when Birmingham beat them considerably and he looked quality.

Yup - and another one is Paolo Hurtado:

"Peruvian press are today linking Fulham with a move for 22 year old Peruvian winger Paolo Hurtado. After a good season with FC Pacos de Ferreira in the Portugese Primeira Liga, he scored 8 goals and gained 1 assist. Hurtado can operate on both wings, has a good turn of pace and has represented Peru on 6 occasions scoring 1 goal.

The Portugese club are quoted as wanting a fee of EU 4 million to secure his signature."

The only other Peruvian player I can remember in the Premier League was Nolberto Solano. If this guy is as good as Solano was I'd be quite happy for us to have him on board.

Am I the only one worrying that we're linked with lots of wingers, but not many central playmakers? Could that indicate that the club isn't planning on strengthening the centre? Worse, could it be a sign that Kaca and/or Frei are heading for the door?

That said, as others have commented, some of the names we're being linked with sound great. I'm just not convinced it's the position where we most need to spending our transfer budget.

There could be a plan to play one of these wingers in CM, it happened with Dembele?

I want Kaca to stay as mentioned before.

I find that Frei is one footed and can only run to his right, anyone else support this view or have I missed his versatility?

    Hi Whitestripes

Isn't it funny how people see things differently, I was just saying the other day to a mate I rate Frei above kaca and that kaca is very one footed and only ever runs to the left of his defender! I can't see either Frei or kaca playing centre midfield at the moment but put of the two I think Frei may be more comfortable there

Cookie, are you Frei's agent? <laugh>

Positions are always blurry when it comes to rumours or the press. Dempsey was always being called a striker or a forward when referred to in the media. I wouldn't worry about it, I'm sure it's come to Jol's attention that we only have two CMs and he'll be looking at addressing that, rather than buy another 14 wingers!

As opposed to signing Stuart Pearce, Harry Redknapp and Mark Hughes, thus gaining a few more winge-ers. I'll get me coat.

Fulham and Norwich chasing Braga star

    Elderson.jpg

According to Portuguese newspaper A Bola, the Nigeria international - full name Elderson Uwa Echiejile - is in demand this summer, and the Premier League pair, both in the market for defensive reinforcements, are understood to be keen.
But it appears that Bundesliga side Stuttgart are currently leading the chase and have opened the bidding with a £2.5m offer.
Braga, however, are hoping the interest from England will drive up the price for the 25-year-old, who is under contract for two more years
