Welcome to not 606 One Lars - hoped you would make it here

At last some people are engaging their brains and recognising that Rodgers is a good manager. Yes he made ONE stupid integrity comment - for goodness sake those of you going on about it - have none of you ever said anything daft? Let it go

As for now wanting Reading - the club that caused the rift - to get automatic promotion - that beggars belief. They did wrong - if you can't let go about Rodgers how can you for Reading?

Swansea will struggle next year - they are so similar to Watford - a small unfashionable club with mediocre support but a good manager but not much long term going in their favour to compete in the moneybags division. They wont care if they don't blow the £90m like we did

They did well and fair play to them but my worry for Swansea would be will better clubs let them pass the ball around as easily and ofcourse they probably won't have as much chance to do so?

It was a very good game though and credit to Reading for not just giving up.

I think they'll go down too, but I'm not sure they'll finish below the other promoted teams. I don't think they'll finish higher than QPR, who were much better than them this time round and have the clout to improve their squad over the summer. Norwich took me by surprise this year but I don't think they'll be able to rely on their away form and late comebacks in the Premiership: concentration levels and home form tend to be much superior. As for Swansea, I think their so-called beautiful game will come unstuck. Anyone who saw the play-off final will realise that misplaced passes and faffing around at the back is all well and good against Reading but it won't wash against teams at the top.

I await with relish Swansea's trip to the Britannia Stadium. I suppose Rodgers will regard himself as a missionary, bringing civilisation to the savages. His bloody nose in the post-match interview will be the perfect remedy to this tiresome football snobbery.

Leonardo (the artist formerly known as Lenny, I presume?),

While my mind is firmly made up on what kind of a man Rodgers is, I feel the jury is out on his managerial abilities.

He belatedly led us to midtable after performing the miracle of getting Priskin to play football, then departed for Reading in an unmitigated disaster from PR and footballing perspectives. He certainly fell on his feet in getting the Swansea job, as it was a perfect fit really. Still, and I hope I'm not letting my opinion of the toad cloud my judgment, I have to reserve judgment. He took a team up, which is an excellent achievement, but he did it by the narrowest of margins in one of the weakest leagues I can remember. What's more, he inherited a decent side which didn't need to adapt significantly to his style, and then added a pacy, million pound winger. Not rocket science, in my book.

I'm not convinced yet but I'll be willing to admit I was wrong if he keeps Swansea up.

I agree. In other words, he got a lucky break, but luck runs out...we shall see how he performs now that he has to.

Yep Lars -Lenny that was - went upmarket for this site :)

When BR took over Watford were in freefall. In Aidy's last 12 months we got the number of points that relegate you - luckily his last 12 months were spread across two seasons. In Malky's caretaker spell he only averaged a point a game. BR was given no money but halted the decline and in his six months took us to fairly comfortable safety.

His Reading career was too short to say much about except that he failed there - but noone expected him to be given only 4 months to turn around a club that had been relegated and lost their "messiah"

At Swansea he has done well - not great - but his team came third and rightly won promotion - only two sides did better and one is backed by millions. Speak - to Swansea fans - I live near there and do - they think he is great and that he has got players who were not performing to play well - remember Priskin and MacAnuff (who was responsible for both Readings goals yesterday.) Sousa had taken Swansea as far as he probably could - don't tell me that because they were 7th last year that he "inherited a promotion side" Dave Jones would reply to that. This division was no tso poor - we had a good season but came 14th - teams like Forest, Cardiff, Leicester, Leeds etc were strong.

I don't think Swansea's passing game will be up to the Premiership and would bet them come down - one place ahead of Norwich. He will need some good acquisitions to stay up - and how many class players will go to Swansea? Relegation will not make him a bad manager though - any more than other small teams managers who "fail" (Aidy?)

And do I like BR - no - I don't like the way he talks or how he talks or what he talks about - nor his association with Mouirnho - but what seems to distinguish some Watford fans from others is the ability to distinguish betweenthe man as a person and the man as a manager
