I am a fan that loves atmosphere and i am so inspired by Watford Fc having an anthem to come out to that is slightly I more inspiring than z cars, and one that can cause a bit more atmosphere than Darude sandstorm. The only problem being that we couldn't find one. Suggestions had come that we should do an Elton John song because of the obvious connections, the most recent suggestion was 'yellow' by Coldplay. This seemed a good suggestion, but an obvious worry was how slow it was, and could it be adapted to be a football anthem. I'm here writing to tell you that it can. Roy Moore was invited to go onto 3 counties radio and needed fans to go with him, myself hornette and one other went along. We were given the lessons in the car park by a music director who also happens to be a football fan, she has shown us where the emphasis Needs to be and changed the speed of some parts, let me tell you this really works. I will put up a thread to show how its sung, but for now please start buying into this. If people can buy into this it could be quite special. I've seen some suggestions that it won't work and that if the song wasn't 'yellow' we wouldn't sing it, well I guess that is obvious, would Man City sing blue moon if the moon was green. How did Stoke start to sing Delilah? Why do Notts Forest sing Mul of Kintyre, or most famously Liverpool You'll never walk alone, Wikipedia gives reasons, the bottom line is who cares, they sound really good when the whole ground sing them. We can do this guys..........
give it time and it will Mitch would you like a little side bet on it? I am loving the optimism and positivity that is oozing out of Vicarage Road and getting the fans really involved ,I say thanks to Zola and the Pozzos we not only have our club back ,we have something even better , and the longer serving members on here will tell you that i am a pessimist!!! I am genuinely very excited about whats happening in WD18 Special mention for Roy Moore who has had the vision ,ability and gumption to make things happen as far as the 1881 is concerned . All those that dont like noise and atmosphere ,may I suggest the cemetry over the road,) COYH
DITTO Repped! Edit Just listened to the 3CR I player effort... that'll work it if there is the will... let's do it! Good on ya Hornette! http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/101322-The-Hornets-Nest-II?p=4861198&viewfull=1#post4861198 http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p01940df
Fair play to you all for giving it a go - what is needed is a way to spread the word and get the whole crowd on board and singing along. I thought Liverpool chose You'll Never Walk Alone because they related to the original character who sang it!
Billy Bigalow didn't actually sing it, his wife did as he lay dying in her arms after a botched wages snatch.
It won't with that attitude, we need to start to have an attitude of positivity. We all look at other atmospheres and admire, well I want others to admire us. We aren't little ole watford anymore, we are rising. I want teams to come away from the Vic this year and comment on the change in atmosphere. Guys we can do this, there is so much going on with The 1881, people from aged 6 to 64 are moving to be in on this. This isn't a YO, this is people together to sing, I don't know how to do links but can somebody link RBB Western Sydney Wanderers there is a video of them. The other is the Portland Timbers. These are in leagues of football that are meant to be much lower and more recently formed than ours, and yet they are creating far more formidable atmospheres than ours.
Damn right we can do it willa and whats more its gonna happen it wont be the first home game and the naysayers will laugh and mock , but the 1881 will keep going and prevail

Come come Fez, hardly a bunch of convicts given the ethnic diversity of Western Sydney - I'd be surprised to find more than a few of 'British' stock. They are more likely to be of Italian, Lebanese, Yugoslavian or Polish extraction. Impressive though - especially for a club barely 14 months old and effectively with only a two sided ground! I like their 'Grecque' celebration in the 80th minute of every match too - with a safe standing area, we could do that in the 81st minute. We could also do with some budding young musos to produce something like this:
Agree with whats been said thus far - I remember the atmosphere in the North stand during GT's second coming - games home to Ipswich (pen won by Nicky Wright; cant remember who scored it) and Sunderland (2-1 - GNW with fantastic winner) it was fantastic. I think this had a lot to do with it being unreserved seating so 2 pockets would develop, one at the front and one at the back. In no time the entire North stand would break out into Elton Johns Taylor made army and in those 2 games in particular it lasted for much of the match. Our home form hasnt been formidable for a long time and it is no co-incidence that in recent years our away form has been as good if not better. We need to make the Vic a fortress where we dont always get outsung by the away fans. Mitch - I dont expect miracles either and we certainly cant expect to create an unbelievable atmosphere within weeks, not least because having only 3 stands, a lot of noise simply gets lost. However, with a core group of 300-500 in one section constantly singing I really believe that we will finally start to bring some atmosphere back to the Vic.
I sincerely hope you realise it was a joke, straight off the rugby field of course. You forgot the Greeks.
Nope - traditionally they're more Marrickville/Newtown than Western Sydney - that's not to say there are none out that way though......
So the next time you are in the Kop say that this is a song for old women to sing to their criminal children.
