Lost to Israel tonight to finish bottom with 0 points. All the brilliant youth supposedly coming through the clubs in England better be injured atm, because there was very little quality shown in this tournament.
Doesn't help when the entire media and country put the same amount of pressure on the U21's as they do the senior team. We have some good young players in England, and before we came in to the tournament we had won 9 in a row, not conceding a single goal. Didn't the U18's win the World cup (or Euro) not so long ago too? Of course that all means nothing now we've gone out in the group stages. With that said, I do honestly think the whole youth set up needs to rethinking, it's getting harder and harder for youth players to be bedded in and given a chance when their is so much pressure these days on results, the amount of U21 players playing at the moment is very low compared to other nations.
disgrace 80s tactics.... pearce is useless. nobody should excuse him on whilshire not being here. thats bollox... isreal and norway should have been hammered
Would anyone else love to see Carragher take up the u21 manager role? I believe international football to be a very good learning curve for new managers. It takes the buying and selling out of the equation, they have to work with the players they have using training methods and tactics. Seemed to work well for Hughes (at first) and was certainly looking promising for the late Gary Speed too
Thought Pearce was a disgrace in his interview post match. Levelled all the blame on the players. Sorry did they not beat their chests enough once you ran out of ideas tactically Stuart??? Half the real squad wasn't at tournament, and his set up couldn't inspire a turnip. Same old same old. Hire a coach renown for blood & thunder & expect him to instil technical nuance & flair and for what? To be promited to the even more inspiring turnip hodgehog & the underwhelming bore that is the senior team? And Pearce forgets tonight's squad were largely championship starters or premiership development. Prick.
is there anyone good enough to do updates on here? don't have Sky, cheers just said on sky sports news its Liverpools Borini against utd De gea, who will come out on top lol, well it would hardly be down to De Gea if Spain win, will it.
1-0 Spain, A great dinked ball back across the box from the byline, and headered in to the net by Thiago. Lovely worked goal.
