I love my xbox, ps4 controllers are too small they hurt my hands if I play for too long.

After yesterday's E3 announcements, Sony have won hands down for me. £80 cheaper than Xbox plus able to play pre owned games, no need to be permanently connected to the Internet and no restrictions for 3rd party developers. Yes, there will be Xbox diehards but I don't see how the new Xbox can compete with he PS4

I was planning on Xbox but after seeing what they have to offer it doesn't really make much sense to pay more for the Xbox and then have to pay to play it online. The Internet connection thing bugs me as well, if your service provider ****s up you can no longer play on your console?

My kids want an Xbox for Christmas. I'll give it a month from release and see how it goes - I much preferred the Xbox live interface to the PSN and I like the Xbox controller as well. The likes of 'always on' internet connection does worry me a bit and I think it could actually be suicidal from Microsoft to interrupt single player games due to internet connection - I'm very tech competent yet I have problems getting connected to Xbox live all the time, the Xbox is usually out of the main room and far from the router so you're reliant on power networking or wireless which can be annoying when playing online - if you're playing offline and you get disconnected it will get very irritating.

This is the problem I have, the xbox is in a blind spot and rarely has a connection therefore I play single player games only.

I was reading up on the new consoles and it looks like the Ps4 is going to wipe the floor with the new xbox.

I have a feeling Microsoft may well have a rethink after all the bad media and reaction from fans.

I don't know they seem to come across very stubborn on the whole thing. I don't know why they would risk fans over there restrictions anyway in 10 years time disks will be nearly dead and everything will be digital.

I think Microsoft have to soften their stance, or at least get some propaganda on the go to teach us why this system of always on + DRM is going to be better than Sony.

They have been selling the fact that once you install the disk then that game is registered as yours and you can download it as many times as you want on different Xboxs etc (the 40gb size limit of bluray may be an issue though...), which could be very useful since I have a couple of Xboxs and the kids play on one and I play on the other, on the other hand I don't like the kids signing into my Xbox live account because I have some 'adult' friends on there - what happens if I buy a game and the kids want to play it when I'm not there, will they have to log in as me rather than themselves?

They would have to log into your account which would be an annoying pain in the arse. At uni we swapped games all over the place in our shared house but i wouldn't have wanted any of them on my account.

They have said you can 'transfer' games once but I don't know how that works. Can it be transferred back? You can be certain it won't let you both play it at the same time.

Sony have done a u turn and you'll have to join ps+ to play online. Surprised by this as they said they'd never charge to play online.

But if it means a better service where they actively seek out and ban people with jail broken machines them I'm all for it.

Plus with ps+ you will get a new game every month free.

The thing that's putting me off buying one at launch is the fact everyone is listing the games at £50-55!! Fook that!

Gameseek are selling games at £47.95 pre launch, that is the cheapest I can find. Also they are selling the console for £339. Only have to put down a 54p deposit.
