Hamilton has done nothing to assuage my feelings towards him at all, and it's races like this and his comments afterwards that enforde it all the more. I don't think anyone can say the Massa hairpin incident and the Maldonado crash were anything other than Lewis's fault, Massa in the tunnel was all Massa's fault silly to try and defend a position you've already lost.

Hamilton has the raw racig skill, no doubt, but his impetuosity ruins his judgment in far too may races. I don't like the way he's always blaming his team lately for poor strategy, surely doesn't sit there like a gormless idiot and say nothing while his race is decided for him? I think he's one of the best racers, but the rest of his 'back-up' skills are sorely lacking.

Yeah did not think you did. You are just one of those people who fling around other people's names making false insinuations about them and then when you get called on it you run away like a coward.

Well. What can I say? I am not a fan at all; of any driver! Neither do I feel threatened in the least by any opinions I see or hear, since I know they are simply that: opinion!

However, I do find some posts offensive. Particularly those that incite reaction (inflammatory), such as this. Regardless of your experience elsewhere or even here within other threads, it is completely out of order to have a go at any other contributor, particularly someone who has not even taken part in this thread!

I do not have a particular interest in any official definition of a so-called 'WUM', but this post of yours, DeVries, seems to have little or no concern about the possibility of inflaming your victim; and as far as I am concerned, that would seem to fit any definition of a 'wind-up'. And to do this certainly doesn't look clever to me…

Once Hamilton qualified in 7th (subsequently 9th), he was always going to have problems in the race.I suspected he would be involved in a few incidents and that proved to be the case.

He was hoping for a front row slot (possibly 2nd), so the 9th place pretty much ruined his weekend, and totally altered his mind set.His frustration and impatience during the race was clear to see.Much as I enjoy watching him race, for me he was clearly at fault both times and deserved both his race penalties.

His outburst afterwards just confirmed how frustrated he was.

I do admire his passion and competitive spirit, but sometimes he still lets his emotions get the better of him.Canada should be interesting......

I fully expect (dread) a Lewis fightback in Canada. Traditionaly a track he performs well at. (trying to steer the conversation away from each other here)

    Agreed JC.

Canada is going to be fun, soft and supersoft and on a track where Red Bull's aerodynamic advantage will be less important.

Its the perfect place for McLaren (or even Ferrari for that matter - will write thread about this tomorrow) to fight back.

Yes, that's my honest opinion but perhaps I should clarify.

    1) I don't feel sorry for Massa because, as I said it was part of his job to try to keep Hamilton behind. If he hadn't, he would have been failing himself and his team.

    2) I do feel sorry for Maldonado; I really wanted to see him earn his first points. But I do think that with more experience he may have handled it better. I see the move as similar to Lewis's earlier overtake on Schumacher, if less well-executed.

I was not trying to exonerate Lewis, nor to say he didn't deserve his penalties. I just wanted to say that, for me, the situations were not as black and white as some insist. It was racing at the highest level with a lot at stake. While I applaud Lewis for speaking his mind, I cringed at his terrible choice of words. It was certainly not Lewis's finest hour but the top drivers all have days like that: Alonso in Valencia last year; Vettel in Turkey and Spa, for example.

I'm not writing this to protract an argument but I was asked a question and wanted to reply. I now want to look forward to Canada, where I hope Lewis can show his fighting spirit in a more constructive manner.

I said before the race that the smart money would have been on either a DNF, or a podium (due to a combination of Lewis's aggression and other DNFs).

Having seen the race, how neither of those two things happened I'll never know.

Do you actually think Massa took the decision to turn in on Lewis and take one for the team?

On Canada, I can see a rejuvinated Hamilton and more Ferrai woes <grr>

No, I don't think Massa intended to "take one for the team" but that was the unfortunate consequence for him.

Yes, I can see a rejuvenated Hamilton but I don't foresee Ferrari woes. I expect another exciting, closely-fought race, with Alonso, Button, Hamilton and Vettel battling for the win plus a few surprises.

My opinions, based on observation over a considerable amount of time. To not reply to a post immediately is more of a function of preoccupation and not cowardice unless ofcourse you are talking from experience?

With the demise of BBC 606 I think we should reclaim the term WUM to apply only to those posters who gave us clever, funny, positive articles there. The obsessive hate mongers weren't WUMs. They were just common or garden trolls. There was a subtle artistry to a good WUM article.

It would make a good put-down: Not a WUM, merely a common troll.
