    Hey Guys,

I would have used the transfer thread but commenting isn't as good as an article and it won't allow me to comment!

So we signed Matt Smith today and I for one am very happy with this signing! I don't know much about him but I know he is young and hungry and I really do trust BMD!

A second player is supposed to be having a medical tomorrow! Who do we think this could be? Reece Waraba?

I keep moaning about wingers and we have been linked with Adam Hammill and Cameron Stewart, would we be happy with these two?

I like the fact that the majority of players we are being linked with are young, it is what building a team is about!

I'm also quite happy with the Smith signing, most don't seem to be though. The only thing that I don't like about the signing is the fact its the first signing, the first signing you normally try to signal intent and it doesn't do that. However I think he will do well

Where have you heard that another player is having a medical tomorrow? Haven't seen that anywhere but I'm hoping that it is either Mills or a CM

I would be happy with Hammill but certainly not Stewart. I would prefer Jerome Thomas or Jermaine Pennant over both of those as well though

I have to admit I was underwhelmed when I heard who our first signing was, probably for this reason

However, young and relatively cheap, also a bright lad so may be able to adapt. Plus, keeping with the half full cup mode, plays better against better opposition. So, as BM is still in the "trusted manager" category (not many Leeds managers stay in that category for very long these days ;) ) I have woken up today feeling pretty good about Smith's signing.

The one "half empty" thought is that it still leaves me waiting to see if GFH will spend on this team when its needed - I don't have specific names in mind but I'd like a signing soon that shows us they are supporting BM properly when he needs it (does not have to be number 2 - lets hope that comes today)

I would love to see us get Dale Tempest from Bayern Munich understand he is available for 350k I wrote about him 2 years ago when he was playing for Tranmere .Understandably he cant get into the team with Robben and Ribery blocking his way.As you know by now I am over the moon for Smith

How much faith does the manager have in Smith when a 2 year contract is all that is offered? I will remain open minded but certainly not as excited in him as some seem to be. Like I said in the other thread, he does well and bags a few goals and then we have a player entering the last year of his contract, all a little strange and all reflecting a signing by a manager and club that has no money.

Understand where you're coming from, but there's always an possibility of failure when signing lower league players, and his strike rate is hardly prolific. I'm prepared to give him a chance, and who knows, he could well be an astute signing for us and surprise us all. But if we'd given him a 4 year contract and he proved inadequate at this level, we would've been stuck with him for a while. Think 2 years with the option of a third would've been the best move though.

German twats, fancy playing Robben and Rubbery ahead of a 49 year old that retired 20 years ago - no wonder German football is in such a state!

Ristac, surely you are not suggesting he should have got a 4 year contract like Grayson used to dish out to unknowns?
