I wasn't saying you should keep him as a first team player, but remember Nugent played more games than Beckford ever has done in the championship as well. I just cannot believe that you (imo anyway) only have two strikers who are capable championship strikers (disregarding Beckford) yet your trying to get rid of a player who is almost guaranteed goals. I think it is a case of mismanagement with him
And that is EXACTLY the point ... Nigel Pearson has mismanaged Beckford and totally failed to get the best out of him. This is why I simply can't see Leicester getting promoted with him in charge. Strong squad, great position for the run in ... and blammo, it all goes belly up and instead of automatic promotion Leicester go into play offs totally out of form. Sorry, just not acceptable, and makes you wonder if Beckford had been managed properly .......
This is the thing. You've only seen him in League One where the standard is laughable. He isn't guaranteed goals' at this level, not by a million miles. We're not going to drop two players who scored 36 goals between them so we can play to Beckford's strengths (does he have any?). We're also not going to keep him on the bench earning his fat wage. You're more than welcome to take him, he's ****ing ****.
Beckford work ethic, first touch, attitude and commitment just isnt good enough He isnt as quick as he appears. His finishing on his day is deadly but others days its wayward. I would much rather David Nugent and Chris Wood to Beckford. I would even rather Martyn Waghorn when he is on top form to Beckford. For someone with Beckford's potential ability its criminal how he has limited himself with his negatives
I've seen him play at all levels so your incorrect. I have seen him at League 1 and the premier league and he is guaranteed goals at this level I just dont think you can get away from Pearson being a poor man-manager
Pearson a poor man manager? Alright then. He's built his sides on quality, work ethic and simply being mates with the players. Beckford is plain ****e. I've never seen a player with a touch as bad as him. Beggars belief how he's made it this far in the game. Just because he scored a few goals against Southend, it doesn't mean he's a good player.
AKCJ, the fact he has, on paper anyway, the best team in the league and can't even challenge for auto is simply stupid. How many players has he fallen out with? players like Beckford, Danns, St. Ledger, Mills all did very well before joining you and Pearson came in and tried to play them. Figured out that they had some work to do with themselves and he simply gave up and decided to spend more money to bring in other players, no other club in this league would allow their manager to do that and yet for some reason he can't be criticised when he fails to get promotion. Quality, worth ethic based and matey teams also don't just fall apart for no apparent reason when your at the most critical period of the season as well. He can't provide any motivation to go along with it. As I said, if we had the same circumstances at leeds fans woulda been calling for his head a long time ago. I just find it interesting how leicester fans can still not only back him but still argue that he is a good manager
To be fair to Beckford,he's not the only goal machine that went to shooting blanks for Leicester.Who has the best premier league record ?.Nugent,Wood or Beckford.
Wood hasnt really played in the prem. Only 21 years old and he has all the attibutes to make a very decent prem striker. Nugent just like Beckford will never be good enough for the prem I would much rather someone who will give their all like Jamie Vardy to someone like Beckford
Whilst at Millwall, Wood looked like a Premiership striker - had it all. 2 weeks at Leicester and he looked worse than Billy Paynter - and that was Pearsons fault Beckford and Wood are good players when managed properly !!
I dont often like to give Jackett credit but when I saw him in a millwall shirt Wood looked incredible. I watched a few games of Leicester including the play-off games and he looked a shadow of that Millwall player, still looked dangerous every now and then but at Millwall he was the all round player. Beckford was also starting to look very dangerous at Huddersfield in the last few games for them, playing very well and getting the goals to go with it
Wood started brilliantly here and scored 9 goals in his first 6 games. He then suffered a knee injury and didnt look half the player he did before. We think he was still carrying the injury Give him the summer to recover and next season he will be back stronger Beckford is ****
He is very much like Fryatt Prolific in League 1, average in the championship and not good enough in the prem No where near as good as you lot think
