The whales started it. Have you not seen the South Park episode Whale Whores?!

I can see your point about the selection criteria. Having researched the national teams of some countries, it seems players like Khedira and Gundogan were actually born in Germany, which I suppose is alright. Perhaps if there was a limit of 2 naturalised players it would make it fairer?

It makes sense that smaller countries (like Indonesia and India) rely on foreign players because their top leagues are pretty weak.

I've got a great idea Eric, why don't we try and build a superior race, just us "white English" people. Then, we kill all the others who don't fit in with requirements. That worked out well last time someone tried it? Right?

At least its out there in the open for everybody to read Lewis when people come out with stuff like this, right or wrong. I think the worst part of the comments posted is when he asked me 'if I was black', what ever difference should that make to anything? Vile person.

R.I.P. English football at International level. If that is the future then god help us. <yikes>

What a prick David Bernstein is. The like of Jones - Welbeck and Oxlade-Chamberlain should have been with the U21 not messing about in meaningless games (ie.ROI and Brazil) with the full squad.

You could take that further and say, "anyone from Europe is European", but nobody with any degree of common sense would describe someone like Danny Welbeck as European.

In what way are shoe size and favourite food as relevant to the topic of defining nationality as race, colour or religion?

That is how you wish to define it.

Also, I fail to see the relevance of the French/Italian/Scandinavian comment. If someone had some non-white ancestry from 500+ years ago then clearly I wouldn't define them in the same way as a Glen Johnson or Daniel Sturridge, and I also don't think ancient migrations and invasions are a suitable comparison. This is the 21st century - there are now clearly defined borders and nations.

Why? Topics pertaining to race are perfectly valid for discussion IMO, both culturally and scientifically. Just because the BBC and whoever else keep telling you that "there's no such thing as race" doesn't make it true. There is. There are many different breeds of dog. They can all breed, but they still differ in size, colour and temperament. Some are more intelligent than others. Some are more vicious than others. The same is true of human beings.

Thank you for your contribution, Mr Lamb. All who stumble across this fascinating and enlightening post will surely leave Not606 having been intellectually nourished.

Firstly, what I said was, "I take it you're black" in response to you saying that goat curry was 'great'. It was tongue-in-cheek.

Secondly, in the context of of this discussion I would say it's a pretty reasonable question and that your response makes a big difference. Apparently you're too dumb to realise that. You have my pity.

That's my point, the colour of your skin doesn't determine your nationality. :emoticon-0113-sleep

Erik, if say Jermaine Defoe did what Wacko Jacko did and turned himself white, as a white Englishman I assume he'd be exempt from your 2 black player limit?

I haven't seen it. I'm not going to get all pissy over it like others have done because really I don't give a **** and don't see how your anonymous words on an internet forum can hurt anyone, but I'm pretty sure your English criteria is going to have some large logical holes in it, so if you could either repeat your criteria for being English or refer me to the original defintion, that'd be great.
