I don't know what SB will go with, but I suspect he may well adopt 442 when playing the top sides and 352 when we play the others. So he may well want to have the option to go for both formations, depending on who we are up against, anyhow only TWT.

To be fair I've followed this account for a while and they are right more then they are wrong, still could be lucky guesses rather them them actually being in the know but defiantly better then half of these Hull city fan pages that have suddenly appeared repeating the crap the papers say!

Sheffield wed when they outmuscled us. Hobbs got took off, very poor. I like Hobbs but he asks that nasty ruthless streak you need. Big Abdi batters people and gets his head on stuff, like Brucey himself did. Hobbs no goals from corners in those two years.

If he goes I wouldn't be bothered

Hobbs didn't get taken off as a tactical change then? ie. a striker for a defender as we chased the game reverting to 442 which is how I remember it? :emoticon-0114-dull:

    is Davies quicker then Hobbs?
that would be the main reason for the swap, pace isnt everything but its a key factor at this level , unless you are one of the very best at everything else youl get murdered without any.

Ye of course it was tactical but as Hobbs hadn't done his job and outfought them he was the one to come off not Faye who was battling them on his own.

If Hobbs stays I'm ok with that but if he goes, it will be cos lack of pace, and goals from set pieces. Davies has 11 in two seasons.

CI seem to think Hobbs is part of the deal - The Mirror claiming Brum want £4million PLUS Jack Hobbs!

He's not worth that - £1.5-2million plus Hobbs maybe, but only because Hobbs is in the last year of his contract and we don't know if he intends to sign a new one.

Zilch. Though he was labelled as the best defender to never play for England.

I think we can't accurately say that Hobbs is better than Davies or vice-versa considering that the only times we'll have seen Davies play, is against us. The Managers and the scouts will know how good he is, and if Brucey reckons that Hobbs may not be able to cut it in the Premier League, then fair enough.

Football is harsh at times, but at least should Hobbs be leaving in this apparent swap deal, he leaves with the City fans thanking him for his efforts and performances throughout his time at the KC.

I get the logic you're using here but I think, like many City fans at the moment, you're forgetting that for many modern managers 4-4-2 is seen as too attacking. Managers are desperate to have an extra midfielder to 'stifle' the opposition which is why 4-5-1 is becoming so common. We tried that but hardly ever scored and SB started using 3-5-2 so we could have two strikers but still play the extra midfielder. If we wanted to be more defensive against a top side, the last thing we'd want to do is to drop the extra midfielder because that's exactly what managers are scared to do in today's game and it's the reason that 4-5-1 is now more common than 4-4-2.

I agree that's his one weakness. I don't think it affects his defensive game much though, he still wins most aerial balls and unlike Faye, he doesn't just clear it aimlessly straight after doing so.

They were both dropped for the next game so I don't think SB was happy with either of them really.

Yes I know, but that's not the same as saying he "was arguably the best defender in the country in his prime".

The only defender that we have thats worse than Curtis Davies is Alex Bruce and i dont see that happening.

If we sign CD then it will be for cash only.imo. With the likes of Richard Dunne(villa) and Stephen Reid(Wba) available as Fats then i suspect Birmingham would move for players that are already in the area. They could also take Roger Johnson back from Wolverhampton.

Maybe both if the rumour about Steve Bruce wanting both Davies and Redmond is true. In saying that most of the deal would be in cash surely ?

Correct he is. We can do better that C.D. imo. Would be utter madness to let Jack Hobbs go.

Utter nonsense ^^^^^ this. Go back to having your wet dreams over Darren Bent.

    Spot on.

    Agreed.

Davies is better than Hobbs and offers the pace that we currently lack.

Hobbs is a great Championship centre back, but his lack of pace will be glaringly obvious in Premier League, as will McShane's and Bruce simply shouldn't be anywhere near a Premier League squad.
