Apparently the horse tried to do the same thing on its hurdling debut, bit of a rogue it seems.

Bob i wouldnt say that at all did you not see Inkerman get knocked about and blocked in, once it got out it made really good headway to finish close up. It would be the one to take from the race for me, thought was very unlucky.

Getting blocked or doing the blocking is race riding STH. Lordan should have won the race on what looks the clear best horse but Fran Berry outdid him during the only part of the race that really mattered.

I've seen the race 3 times and Inkerman was just unlucky. You also need a lot of that to win in horse racing. You backed the horse so maybe have a more tainted view than me but thats just what i saw.

I think you're missing my point a bit. In football if Messi does something awesome is the defender unlucky or has Messi just done something exceptional? Doesn't the same apply to racing? Berry's ridden Lordan to sleep. If you swapped the jockeys round you'd get a different result.

But you wouldn't Bob its just the way the race panned out how could Wayne lordan know tjat at the exact time he looks to pop out for a run that a horse will come upside and knock him about? He isn't a prophet. I'm just saying that Wayne Lordan didn't do much wrong there and incidents like that happen frequently every day in racing. Doesn't matter nnow anyway i just see it differently to you. And its not really the same applying something Messi does on tje ball to how a horserace unfolds.

    I think it's a fair analogy.

Saying Berry's out ridden Lordan doesn't mean Lordan has to have done anything wrong (although it was fairly clear he let himself get blocked when riding the best horse). All it means is that the better riding of one prevented the other from winning.

It's looking fairly likely you'll not agree because I don't think we're talking about the same thing here. Lets leave it.
