The Other Big Three haven't had a former WDC as a teammate... However saying that this year, Rosberg 1 win > Lewis's 0 However 77pts > 57pts If I was offered the chance to win a WDC with 1 to 0 wins all year but consistent points finishes against a team mate that was Monte Carlo or Bust (unintentional pun there..) and not in the hunt for the WDC, I'd take the WDC all day every day. IF (big if) he's honest when saying "he's not comfortable" in the car yet, then its quite ominous for Rosberg, he's 20pts behind Hamilton and Hamilton is yet to get comfortable in the car. IF (another big one) Rosberg is true to form and tails off in the second half of the year, then he (Hamilton) could well double Rosberg's end of season points total. Regardless of what happens at the end of the season, after the start to the season, its safe to say that Rosberg's stock as truly risen!
Yeah after Singapore Nico usually just plummets in performance. Singapore and Japan in particular are tracks Lewis will be beaten by Nico IMO.
Erm, where did you read about the brakes? Lewis confirmed they are both using the same supplier etc. Why would both Rosberg and Hamilton change brakes to use ones they weren't comfortable with? Anywayz, so far this season they look fairly equal with one seeming to have the upper hand over the other at any given race. As said by others, this looks better for Rosberg than it does Hamilton. Good for Mercedes all round though as the drivers are brining good points home for a team that really looked in decline for the last 3 years.
I'm not sure why people seem to think that being beaten by Rosberg somehow reflects badly on Hamilton. He's clearly got speed and talent. If anything, having Rosberg challenging him is a good thing for Hamilton as it makes him have to push all the harder.
Well I heard before he joined that he asked to change their brake compound to suit his driving more. Have no idea if it went through as I didn't think it of importance until now tbh. Nico was said to be not bothered by it as his driving style doesn't depend on the brakes as much as Lewis' does. Wouldn't be able to find the right post as we are talking Jan-Feb time and I can't remember or not if it was a German publication.
On brakes, I'm fairly sure that both drivers run the same material, which is the one Hamilton "brought with him" from McLaren. I can't find a link now, but I think Brawn confirmed that. I have a feeling he said it when Sky had a "tweet-in" Q&A session.
Didn't hear that... but did hear that the brakes he prefers generate too much heat? Which make the Merc tyre handling issue worse, therefore I don't think he's allowed to use the brakes he prefers, hence the reason why he's not comfortable braking the way he's used.. Could be a load of bollocks.. but it is what I've heard...
Maybe the brake failure Lewis had was in fact the ones he wanted to use for this year but failed even in testing. So under safety they stuck with last years design maybe?
I think given Nico's performances so far this season he has stock has gone up in most people's views. Thats not an attack on Nico as such, just that we probably havent had a good comparison todate on a car capable of winning. All in all, I think that both drivers have done and are doing a great job and they seem a decent combo - happy days all round.
On clip the apex one member said Hamilton used his preffered CI brakes in Melbourne but they overheated and from Malaysia to Monaco he used brembo brakes while the team worked on it and the team gave him back CI brakes for Montreal and have a further upgrade to the CI brake system in Silverstone. Whether he made this up or not I don't know.
havn't changed my opinion of Rosberg at all, fast on an empty track but that's about it, if he attacked as aggresively as he defends (he skates the borders of legality defending IMO, very 'weavy') I might change my mind, but he's never particularly impressed me racing.
My guess is that the 'stuff' on his mind is probably related to the test and the tribunal. And it seems pretty normal to me that he wants to win and better his team mate.
Well Lewis did say "please" when he asked to be left alone. I don't know how much more timid he could of been in that conversation...
Obviously all relevant to the context of the question; "what I am projecting isn't disappointment - I've got stuff on my mind"
Oh god, it was interpreting Lewis' radio conversations that made Manny lose his head Let's hope we all get through this unscathed!!
