1) I clearly said that I am not entirely opposed to having any non-white players, merely that there should be restrictions on what percentage of the team/squad they constitute 2) The rules would apply to all non-white players. If they were only 1/4 or 1/8 non-white and were born and raised in England the same rules would/should apply as far as I'm concerned. I said non-white. If it makes you happy I can stretch that to non-Northern European. To each their own. Not at all. As I've said before, these forums aren't cyber-****athons for everyone to sit around slapping each other on the back whilst saying "oh fiddlesticks, I wish I was as wonderful and liberal and tolerant and super-duper smart as you!" You may find in life that other people have opinions that differ from yours, sometimes a little, sometimes a lot. You'd do well to remember that. Now that's just mean. Anyway, I'm still waiting for you to tell me how the likes of Wilfried Zaha and Danny Welbeck are more English than me. *It's my house, though I'm afraid it's rented **It's 'Wombat Erik' [NSFW] please log in to view this image [/NSFW]
You appear to doubt that it is an opinion. Can I assume from that that either: A) You believe what I wrote is fact; Or, B) You struggle with English
I notice that Germany have also been eliminated from the U21s as well. That makes me feel better about England's elimination - it means the two finalists of 2009 are both out already...
Racism isn't an opinion. It seems you are the one who struggles with English, I clearly state you are wrong, how can this be fact?!
You're talking a lot but not really saying much. You keep responding to my posts with random words and phrases that appear to have no relevance to what I have commented, rather like a monkey bashing its fists on a keyboard
The fact is, you're an idiot. You say an ENGLISH person shouldn't play for England because they are black. Just think about that for a second.
That's debatable. You ask anyone from outside England - hell, outside of London even - to describe the average Englishman. How many will say, "well you get white ones and black ones and Asian ones..."? None. No, never, and nor would I. They're a bunch of clowns and halfwits.
Surely, an Englishman, is anyone from England. Regardless of their colour, religion, shoe size, favourite food. If they are from England, they are English, the rest is irrelevant. There is no argument to that, that is the truth. It looks like you'd fit right in at the BNP.
But that can only be said in the last 60 odd years, England hasn't always been like that, Erik sort of has a point. But if he's going to follow that rule all the way through ancestry lines, no one would be eligible for the England soccer team, as I'm pretty certain there are no 100% brittanic bloodlines left and we all have a mixture, at the very minimum, of French, Italian and Scandinavian blood in us. Then you consider the fact that countries like Germany have polish and Ghanaian players in their national side, purely because they played in the german league system for so many years, never mind them having 3 grandparents from and having been born and raised in the country they play for, I don't think it's much of an issue at all.
He's a ****ing idiot Bullshit Man and has no point at all whatsoever. It's a shame theres a thread on here referring to skin colour in this day and age. Valid point about the BNP from Maccas, think this prat should go take his 'opinions' over there.
I never saw the issue with calling up foreign players to represent England or indeed, any other country. We as a nation moan about how **** our national teams are, but we haven't developed our young players like Spain have so we can't always call on our own home grown talent, as much as we'd all like to see it. It's no secret that countries like Germany, France and even Italy are now calling up naturalised players because a) The player wants to play for them and b)It's a great way to get different players in. We need to discard this Draconian view of British pride and look at other countries. Do we want to be getting to the final of a major tournament, or get knocked out in the group stages with sub standard but all English players? We're underachieving because the players we are calling up have, for the most part, had their day. Ferdinand, Terry, Lampard and Gerrard are approaching retirement age for internationals and Lescott, Crouch and Defoe aren't far behind them. So, who will come in replace them? You look at players like our very own James Chester, but a couple of sporadic names aside we just saw how badly our U21's played against mediocre opposition and they're supposed to be the next set of future England internationals. We need to change the 'gentleman's agreement' that we have in place and start bringing in some of the international talent that play in our top division. Mikel Arteta would have been a much better option at Euro 2012 than Jordan Henderson. Half of Germany's squad are of Turkish (Gundogan, Ozil), Polish (Podolski and Klose were born in Poland). Hell, even Ireland are made up of English players (Jon Walters, Kieren Westwood and Paul Green to name but 3) and Scotland have been calling up Englishmen for years! I believe Qatar's plan for when they host the 2022 World Cup is to go out and buy a load of talented young players and naturalise them in time for their opening group game. It won't work, but it's an interesting solution from a country that has produced no real talent in the world of football and hell, at least they're trying.
Tommy, I only read a couple of lines, but bullshit. 1. You're from the Faroe Islands, so there's no 'we' and as such, do not understand what being british is. 2. Repeat point 1.
Being black doesn't stop you being English. You're obviously an intelligent person, can you explain what is the criteria for being English? Countries like France and Germany take the piss out of the idea of a 'national' team when they're all actually from everywhere but their own country, but as far as I know there's hardly anyone in the England setup who should be really be playing for another nation.
I was born there, but I've lived in England most of my life, why shouldn't I be able to follow England? I went to primary school here and grew up around British people, I have a Yorkshire accent. I know what it's like to be British as much as you do. Sorry if I missed anything important in those first three years I was abroad, but I had my hands full being a toddler. I use 'we' when I talk about the Faroes and about England, I consider my self a part of both countries (my father is English) and I'm very proud of my heritage. I'm pretty sure everybody's opinion on their national identity is unique, but outside of football, I'm just like any other British person.
I was really only taking the piss, but I'm suprised to hear you're proud to be a savage whale murderer. Anyway, more to the point, with your theory of selection for national teams, if every team started doing that, international tournaments would just become an ultimate team version of the champions league. The groups would be more like: Premier League Bundesliga La Liga Eredivisie Yes I know those four countries would never get drawn in the same group, but you know what I mean. It would kill international football, and I think the rule that players who have played in that countries league system so long can play for the national side should be abolished.
