So after dominating the nominating for right-backs, Sascha Riether goes straight into the XI with Mignolet. Next up we need a pair of CBs, to keep it simple we'll nominate two CBs at once, so once again nice and easy, just nominate the two best CBs (Not necessarily a CB pair from the same team), who had the best individual performances home and away against Saints this season.

    G-g-g-g-go!

I thought O'Shea and Cuellar were dominant at SMS, and Agger and Skrtel dominant at Anfield. But as this is home and away, I'm not sure that I could vote for any of those four (although granted, I didn't go to the Sunderland away game - it just sounded like they defended poorly).

I guess McAuley and Olsson have be at least be considered, given WBA's two clean sheets against us.

I can think a few individual CBs who stand out for the wrong reasons (Steven Taylor (h) and Adrian Mariappa (a) for example), but struggling with any for the right reasons.

I think I will have to go for Chris Samba as one as he was excellent at St Mary's barring the first 15-20 minutes. The other CB would have to be Jagielka for me.

Vertonghen and Jagielka. Vertonghen was fantastic when we played Spurs away and Jagielka had two good games.

For me, one would have to be Vertonghen, on the left, and the other one on the right I'm still thinking about. I'll edit my post when I come back with the other, so don't start counting yet. :)

EDIT: Yep, while thinking about it and going away to look for inspiration, I came back and just noticed Mr_Saintly's post above mine and Jagielka is an excellent nomination for the other position, and just the CB I was working towards. So those two it is.

Well the CB who has scored the most goals for the opposition is Jos, bless his heart. <laugh>

In reality I've been having a real think, I think I'll plump for Vertonghen and Ashley Williams.

I thought he was a touch on the dodgy side at SMS.

    Jagielka for me.

I must have been the only one who thought Samba's marking was atrocious and Williams was slow on the turn. Not as good as they're cracked up to be, those two.

Vidic was phenomenal at St Mary's then it's between Samba and Olson for the other slot for me.

Can I remind posters that Mikey wants TWO nominations here. Not one or three. It's tedious enough for him without people making it a guessing game for him too. At least tell him you're coming back to finally decide. :)

I was really struggling to remember the first half of the season to be honest haha, I remembered him doing pretty well at the Liberty and Lambert getting short change out of him in the air over both legs. I'd probably go for Vertonghen and Jagielka really as the two best but those two are locks to get nominated so thought I'd throw another name in.

I thought Williams had a pretty average season this year all in all, but was good against us, Chico is the underrated hero of that team, but I think he didn't play at St Mary's because he was still banned from kicking someone in the head haha.

Also Joe I'm going to choke you, you gave me two nominations twice when I wanted one nomination, and one nomination when I wanted two. One would almost thing you're doing it on purpose you bastard! <laugh>

Williams is average full stop. Chico Flores is on another planet to him at CB.

I'm going for Cueller and Jagielka I think.

Yeah, Monk played at SMS. And I thought had a slightly better game than Williams did.

Quite annoyed that Liverpool were so bad at SMS, because I'd have voted for Agger and Skrtel without any hesitation otherwise on the basis of the Anfield game. That was THE stand out defensive performance for me, vs us this season.

I'll be honest; I've got into a really bad habit of reading the heading and not reading the actual content.

Jagielka and Cuellar then, and I promise I'll read the next thread properly. :)

Of course, Chico would be in my PL team of the year, but we're talking about individual performances not over the whole season or who's a better player, I think Williams had two good games against us whilst Chico didn't even feature in both.

I thought Monk was pretty good overall, but still not happy about his stonewall penalty challenge on Lallana that wasn't given so no chance I'm giving him a nomination! :p

I need to watch that game again on saints player later because I still do not know how we didn't get a penalty or score more than 1 goal in that game.
