The best Hendrix albums are the first one, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, (so many cool tracks on that, Hey Joe, Purple Haze, Are You Experienced, Foxy Lady, etc...), and Electric Ladyland, (Voodoo Child, etc), both awesome albums... But Hendrix is best heard on the many bootleg live recordings that are out there, many I've got and many I've sadly had and lost, that's where you'll hear him at his raw best!
I'm not such a fan of "raw best". I like slick, attentive production and stuff, hence my appreciation of Steely Dan, CSN, - but hey, at least (unlike football) there's no rights or wrongs to music. Jedward and anyone on BGT or Xfactor need not apply
Just for you, Cromer... 'Ave it, Jimmi...
Classic Rock, now you're talking. Voodoo Chile has to be the best opening ever, doesn't it? I'm a huge Jeff Beck fan, so, in deference to Jimi:
That wasn't bad, Gandy, it's always going to be difficult covering Hendrix, but nevertheless, not bad at all! Anyway, here's Jimi, with "Are You Experienced" I only really appreciated this tune when I heard it for the first time on some mental acid that was doing the rounds in Ipswich!
I smoked a Senior Service once (that's not a euphemism btw) I agree that Hendrix was the best ever, but what about Beck with a Beatles cover? This guy was always my favourite.
Yeah, that's cool...fit bird on the bass too, who is she? On the same mental trip that I first heard "Are You Experienced", I also heard the Beatles "I am the Walrus", and it was like moments of perfect clarity, perfect understanding of what it all meant and everything, beautiful...
I remember playing this over and over in White's cellar bar as an obnoxious seventeen year old:
Immortal Technique...Excellent!
Haha Welly, have to love you! I just can't identify with that stuff, hard as I try. Anglo-Irish so Pink Floyd, or, you know, a bit of Chris De Burgh!
Continuing my (new) theme of hip hop, this seems rather appropriate for tonight
Polly Jean: i'd forgotten how good you are.
