Yes, but usury is a different matter, ie demanding payment in excess of the sum originally loaned.

We're not talking ethics though are we, they're both companies that loan and charge interest, which is against his beliefs, the rate of interest is (or should be) irrelevant

Well at least it's good to see The Mirror providing fresh quotes direct from the player and cold, hard evidence to back it up.

I was worried they were merely recycling a story we read when the deal was first suggested.

"Newcastle's Papiss Cisse MAY refuse to wear shirt advertising payday loan firm Wonga"

    No, you don't say?

I might refuse to wear one too, I wonder if I'll get any publicity over it.

This comment proves the whole story is probably bollocks.

Cisse should spend more time on things like learning the offside rule etc
    Or finishing practice

The thing is, when Kanoute had this problem at Sevilla, he was allowed to wear a blank shirt. But due to La Liga rules, any shirt worn by players had to be available to buy for fans. With any luck, Cisse will be allowed to wear a blank shirt, and then we can all buy it (providing th PL has the same rule), so we don't have to have the ****ty wonga logo on it :)

Didnt the press do this B*****ks to death with Ba and Virgin money. Any attempt to disturb nufc fans is fair game to them but something at least origional might have been worth reading. Methinks Robledo hits it on the head with Virgin doing loans and the apr being irrelevant. Shows what badly thought out B*****ks it is.

So Cisse can take a wage from a club sponsored by Virgin Money/Wonga and can play in a league sponsored by Barclays. Can play in what you could term as an advert (i.e. matchday) of the Premier league against teams wearing other banking/alcohol sponsors on their shirts/stadiums.
So it looks to me like he needs to decide what % of the loans he is happy with for people paying back to the creditors. Just smacks of double standards to me though that is what religion usually is. What does a vegetarian player do if sponsored by a food company who sell meat, the list is endless.

    That would be good! <ok>

Yes, match of the Day will happily show images of you with your massive belly out at SJP as a 'typical' Toon fan. :)

<laugh> This. Probably my favourite ever quote of yours TOPS. <ok>

Yup. Every single story on NUFC has been like thiis since the season ended. When there is a quote (Cabaye) it's translated from French, from an interview in Uruguay, and is blown completely out of perspective.
