well, broke my tib and fib on Mon night at footie. Really loud pop (everyone on the pitch heard it) sounded like plastic snapping and thought it was my shin pad until I felt the pain, fell down shaking, held my leg up and foot dropped and flopped round facing the wrong way. All sorts of lumps and bumps in my socks. My team mates called paramedics straight away and they arrived to give my gas and air and max morphine they can give. It was my standing left leg as I turned with ball on my right foot, no bad challenge or anything

Got to hos, more morphine, ketamine, gas and air, oxygen and they had to sedate me (which was really strange) Been on liquid morphine every hour all weeks as well as a cocktail of v strong painkillers every 3/4 hrs. Also liquid painkillers going into my drips.

Scan ppl said one of the worst they've seen, they have also found a lump in my shin bone in my leg which they believe has made my tib and fib weaker over time and have sent it off for a biopsy

Had op, they've had to put metal plates and pins in and have advised me against playing again as my weak spots will be where my good bone meets the metal. So I cant imagine not ever playing again, footballs been my world since age 5 :(. At the min think im to scared to play again and my teammates are after witnessing what they did but they have a league game again Mon night so they'll have to grow a pair <cool>

Anyone else come back from bad injuries? Ive broke my ankle and popped my knee a couple of times but they didnt compare with this which is without doubt the worst experience of my life. And with a 12 week old not the best timing but as always my wifes been amazing

    It's horrifying, i feel
    For you, my
Ankle got completely snapped in two playing football a few years back, i can't play football competitively now, just constant agony, mine was from a horrendous tackle, i think you'll have to stick to 5 a side like me, it really is gutting though, hows the recovery?

    ****e,

sorry to hear that doc,not had major bad injuries when playing, but i have always had tight knee joints which i am paying for now as it makes my legs stiff and hard to walk properly, feels a bit like arthritis if that makes sense.

not too bad with a 12 week old, you both will be crawling around on the floor lol, hope you get better soon <ok>

can always convert to keeper, they dont do much kicking, or can get someone else to take goal kicks lol, at least you will still be playing in some fashion, should ask the doc if that's possible.

Hurts not he word mate, it was ****ing horrible

Like I say this lump has made my tib and fib weaker over the years it seems. They dont know what the lump is but will know in 10 days or so

My leg is hurting like a bastard and im on load of painkillers every 3 hrs but still hurts, that just sort of takes the edge off it slightly

probably wise, it was playing keeper in junior school that gave me the bad knees in the first place lol, fell awkwardly saving and never healed properly.

i used to think i was Clemence when younger and loved being goalie, and then converted to striker when older as i was quite quick and had a good left foot.

no more dirty nappies for me :) girls 3 and 6, and i am not old enough to need them just yet.

when do you know for sure if you cant/shouldn't be playing again?

Wouldn't risk it if I were you!

Closest thing to that seriousness I've done is breaking both hip joints. Took me quite a while to trust myself to sprint or even run properly again. Couldn't go up stairs properly for an entire summer either!

Still feel pain when I bend down to tie my shoe laces etc. I still play rugby though... You have to consider tr long term damage you could do to yourself... Best get involved another way than actually playing!

I dont know mate, I could be off my feet for up to 12 weeks I think. Ive got to go bk in 2 weeks and I think its a case of seeing how its repairing. Thers also question of all ligaments tendons and that that they had to cut and reattach to fit the metal plates in

The X ray with the plates in looked like Robocops leg!

  20. Sorry to hear this pal, sounds awful.

Not any consolation but I went through similar last year but fortunately for me it was my arm rather than my leg; went in too aggressively for a tackle with my arm out which didn't take the force / weight.

I had to have two metal plates put it but no pins. They left me for four days before operating telling me its not urgent in the first ten days <yikes> Only had a pot for a week too, said the plates would hold it, I was ****ting myself for the first month! Would have gone backt o footy if I had been given a proper pot mind <laugh>

I heard mine snap too but thought someone had kicked me. I went to get up and have a go at whoever it was but there was no one there, then I saw my arm mis-shaped <laugh> A couple of lads come over to ask if I was alright because I'd stayed on the ground, my response in a calm manor was "no, I've snapped my arm" <laugh>

When I came round from the operation it was a little scary as a nurse shouted "help" and three of them pinned me down! However, they were just preventing me from moving before pipes etc were removed. They asked me if I felt okay, I said I felt a bit queezy. they they asked if they could do anything to make me feel better and I responded with "yes, you can get me a big mac if you want" <laugh>
