I thought it was MILLIONS!!!! Was probably less than 20. The ex-saints organisation paid for their own box at the ground.
Walked or was he pushed? Lawrie will always be my personal number one of the managers we have had simply because he gave us that hope that we might just become a big club, and it is clear that the board bottled it. I really hope that with the current set up having some ambition we might eclipse the achievements of the Lawrie reign, but it will take some doing. Whether he should be given a wedge of freebies for ever is another matter. I watched that old Jack Nicholson film "About Schmidt" the other evening. One of the messages is that is that when you're gone you're gone when it comes to work.
Not sure why we're giving this guy the time of day really. I hate to state the obvious, but history is in the past. In the case of Le Tiss, he has said some stupid stuff about Cortese so there are two sides to it. I haven't really paid any attention to the rest of this silly drama. We're in a new era for Saints now. History be damned.
I think it's a lack of anything else going on really. Wow, here we go! To a lot of people, them's fighting words!
Seriously? I can't believe we could have had that many, off the top of my head I can only think of about 20-odd we might have had on payroll.
Even if there were over 100, I am sure there were a zillion other pocket lining reasons why we were bleeding money
Cortese said he was shocked at what had been going on before he took over. We'll never know of course.
Yep I don't know many actually got paid, but all would have got free tickets etc. Still far to many then we actually needed tho.
Let's see how much worse I can make it... - Americans do food, TV and film better than us - Churchill was kind of an arsehole - Cricket is dull - Tennis is dull - Golf is dull - Boxing is dull - Harry Redknapp is a capable manager Bring it on!
If McMenemy does not get on with Cortese their is a certain irony as he left the club twice due to lack of ambition from the owners
The context isn't really clear from the article. Did he pull a press conference together just to air those views? Or were they just off hand comments? He's entitled to his view and many people might share them, the fact that they are hitting the Echo headlines probably tells you more about the future of that paper than this individual.
Damn. - Football Manager is better than sex. Nah, I don't actually believe that......or do I? I have to rethink some stuff.
Could be right...he may have planned a link with the Pompey supporters and was then asked about Saints and he just gave his view. A big difference between that and doing it in a planned way.
What a load of rubbish. I imagine Cortese was slightly more interested in Rupert Lowe & Andrew Cowen paying themselves £1m a year than a handful of ex players getting a few free tickets and drinks.
