Newcastle will only try to sign 2 players and have NO interest in Ince nor Eder.

Got his game back at a considerably lower level. It's not as if he was the best left back down the leagues either. I think Ashley would view it in much the same way as a loan deal; no money back for cash spent on wages. I doubt we'll get anyone; the club will see us as having at least 5 left backs as it is (Santon, Haidara, Jonas, Raylor, MYM). Doesn't matter that one of those can't play football for the foreseeable. And never mind Jonas, there's Raylor's injury to think about :hyuk: :hyuk:

Rose is the best shout, mind.

Aha, I follow you now. No, my contention is that Ashley is running the club for the sole purpose for maximising his investment. The fact that fifty-odd thousand invest in the same club continually and all have a different for the club's direction is neither here nor there.

Whilst Ashley is in charge he's going to look after one thing, his investment. He is not going to try to get into Europe unless it becomes financially a better option to his current strategy. For the last goodness knows how many decades Newcastle were unable constantly to get into Europe. Now it's not in his interest and these events will become rarer. And it will continue to do so whilst people buy shirts, eat the pies and even turn up!

There's fifty thousand to be milked for all they are worth and under Ashley SJP is the largest milking shed in Europe.

Even he couldn't have got Mikey Owen up and playing again.

I don't disagree that Ashley sees NUFC primarily as an investment and perhaps secondarily as a hobby, but I think the statement that it is a large milking shed, or a cash faucet in the words of your previous post, are not accurate. As of the last audited accounts, Ashley hadn't taken anything out of NUFC and there is no reason to believe that has changed in the period since their publication.

Ashley does sell some club shirts through Sports Direct which would stay in his (or Sports Direct's) pocket, but aside from that all the match day tickets, pies, etc go into the club coffers and have to date stayed there.

This might, of course, change in the future, or it might not. Unless and until it does, though, the only way Ashley can make money out of the club is to sell it at a profit. That will be much easier to do if the club is doing well.

    The club's expressed plan is:

    a. to live within its means, and

    b. by astute development and recruitment of players do as well as possible while living within its means. This is expect to be more and more possible in the age of FFP.

I have no reason to think that they aren't trying to do what they say.

Fred, fair enough and I accept your opinion. However, Ashley doesn't need to take anything out yet. He may not plan to; the longer he keeps it going as he is, the fatter the balance sheets look and the better the price he will get for the club when he sells it. All he needs is do is to keep fattening the calf.

I really must stop these bovine references.

A healthy balance sheet certainly makes a sale easier, as does a healthy league position. It's probably fair to say that Ashley is trying to achieve both, but if one has to give way at the expense of the other, a balanced ledger will win out over league position except if it means relegation.

have we unexpectedly reached agreement ?

Even more good news on the new player front; Slovenian U-21 International Haris Vuckic and Australian International Curtis Good have both joined for the new season and can't wait to get going. FOUR players, count 'em, signed already - Alnwick, Campbell, Vuckic and Good. Unbelievable tekkers.

Links today to Wissam Ben Yedder - not unsurprising, creator and scorer of goals at Toulouse, young and less than £5m, allegedly.

Anyone know much about Alfred Finnbogason, Philipp Hosiner or Andreas Cornelius?

Haris Vuckic is still just 21 and has mostly been on the treatment table and his technical development is suffering for it, should be pushing for first team by now but is highly unlikely to do so. He should be sold to somebody in the Championship or even a mid level Dutch Eredivisie team to take a chance on him.

Curtis Good doesn't look terrible but not Premier League for me, Charles N'Zogbia who is average in my opinion but with a quick turn of pace a decent left foot, absolutely ripped him to shreds when he was on loan at Bradford, Good moves like an N Power League 1 player and should definitely be sold to a N Power League 1 team.

All in all, we should be very serious in what we do and how we approach our academy and spare no expense in improving it to a world class level and we should expect development and a high level and also dedication from our youths too.
