i think if you read the transcript you will find some media outlets making tha tout as a slap in the face for LFC and fans while in reality it reads as nobody in the MEDIA supported him and said hey hang on here...

i have more confidence in Gulacsi than Jones to be honest, one i think will get no better than he is already, which isn't good enough, the other needs game time and has age on his side.

this is some what true... though i personally put it down to ass covering. they really didn't expect him to win an award but PFA is unpredictable. i think some hedged bets so they could be the ones singing if he did win. if he'd not done aynthing but not won that award and if he'd gone and outscored RVP for golen boot there would be a very different press today.

once he bit.... you had the pfa have a comedian run about saying the n word where of course its now hilarious... then evra and a fake arm etc etc etc... nobody in in the press is going to put their head above the parapet unless they see an advantage for themselves.
