Agree with all apart from the 11m for a top class striker. Think we gonna have to pay over the odds for one of them thats proven in the EPL.
We could look overseas for a cheaper unproven striker but this may cause problems.

What I meant was the £11m could be put towards + existing funds for a top class striker or 2 even. If we added £10m to that we could get a pretty good player imo for £20m+.

He does deserve to play at a bigger club but that does not mean that's what's best for him. A blind man can see this young goalkeeper is still developing, he's still got 10 to 15 years of his career left.

Arsenal AV shots against per game 9.42
Man U AV shots against per game 11.76
Liverpool AV shots against per game 10.08
Sunderland AV shots against per game 14.37

Defensive players develop better when they're made to work. Mig would in no doubt become a better goalkeeper if he stayed with us a few years. It's a no brainer. His agent, Nico Vaesen, is an ex goalkeeper and should know this which tells me his agent is giving him bad advice to fill his own pocket.

Hope he's up for mayor of Sunderland one day. May be able to save a few own goals that our council seem to be good at.

The vast majority of agents are nothing but leaches, that in my opinion, have a hell of a lot to do with all that is wrong with the game at present..The goalposts need to be moved to stop these people holding clubs to ransom..

Sorry mate but that's garbage. All the best defenders would be amazing at crap clubs then end up poor at top clubs by that logic. Defenders and goalkeepers will stand more chance of reaching their potential if they are consistently training against the best attackers.

You can't consistently get your rottweiler to chase your kid round the garden in the hope that one day he'd be faster than Usain Bolt, eventually he'd need real training and he'd need to compete with quality training partners.

I've not claimed my logic is universal, you have <doh> Oh and it did Gary Cahill the world of bad developing at a lower club didn't it. Double <doh>

I disagree completely Saving shots, claiming crosses and organising defences is what makes goalkeepers (My dad was a goalkeeper and these were his golden areas for keeper development). Developing goalkeepers at top clubs makes them see less of the ball and the top class defenders know how to organise themselves much better therefore demand less input from the keeper.

    Man U
    Man C
    Arsenal
    Chelsea
    Liverpool

Tell me the last Goalkeeper in the last twenty years these teams have developed from a young age Under 21 into worldclass goalkeepers?

    Answer, One! Joe Hart

They wait till they get to around Migs age and snap them up once other teams have developed them!

Pepe Reina- 22 most of the developing done
Petr Cech- 22 most of the developing done

Both should be right in their prime, had very average seasons, so average that they've been completely shown up by younger keepers who are still developing by smaller clubs, if they'd finished developing at smaller clubs they could be better but they weren't worldclass keepers last year.

Until De gea came to united they've relied on experience between the sticks

And as for arsenal their track record speaks for itself.
