Are you 100% sure that's what he said? Because some versions state he was referring to the media. That so many were having a go at him and no-one in the press was defending him.

Yeah, I remember you saying that. I'm not trying to defend him, just trying to see the truth through the media bullshit. They could be livid with him just for making yet another monumental cock-up and bringing another PR disaster our way.
There are other quotes in that interview where he says the club and fans have been great and his wanting away is to do with not being able to live a normal life off the pitch. Of course these don't get highlighted in the same way.
Who knows what the truth is?
