You reckon Carroll is worth more?

haha, the more I remember that fee the more it makes me feel sick. Gotta be the most awful deal we've ever done <doh>. He was worth £15-£20m then, and quite frankly probably worth about half that now.

If Suarez cost us £27m and now is worth £50m, Carroll is worth £78m because he cost us £35m...

What makes it even worse is that Suarez and Carroll never looked like a good match tactically.

Dalglish then signed Downing to get the best out of Carroll.

Downing will be another that is hard to get rid of because of wages.

heard we have said he can look for other clubs, but i bet he wont move unless he gets the same ridiculous wages he gets here.

    Cole
    Carroll
    Downing

any more that are on silly wages that will need a big pay off to tell them to **** off

That's the issue, It was the same with Cole and now Carroll. Downing will be on 80k at least and the shrew-faced moocher won't move to another club for less than that

Annoying as hell but 100% the clubs fault. I wouldn't be going anywhere until my multi million pound contract was up either unless someone was matching it

how long would donwing have left on his contract? kenny had a full year of this tosh and then 1 for rodgers. i presume it was 4.5 years if anything, or worse 5.5 years for a guy his age.

If we assume he's got exactly 2 years to go then i think now is the time to sell downing for anything we can get. there are no silly rich qpr's coming up. i think hocking him to hughes last summer was the play to make.

right now i'd take anything we can get.

as for carroll, it is the clubs fault. 100%. i agree. so if we clear 10mil back here we'll probably be lucky

    Taken from BBC sports.

    FOOTBALL GOSSIP
Goalkeeper Simon Mignolet is unlikely to sign a new deal at Sunderland.

The 25-year-old Belgium international still has two years remaining on his existing deal at the Stadium if Light.

But agent Nico Vaesen tells the Sunderland Echo: "There is no progress. I think it is very unlikely that he will sign a new contract.

"Simon has obviously come to a point where he wants to step up a level and there is a lot of interest in him."

back up for a season then take over when Reina goes to Barca?

doesn't make sense why we have Jones on a long contract though, who ever did that needs shooting.

    From Sunderland, yes.

Not a massive step up like United or the Chavs would be but still a step up from Sunderland.

Possibly, would he want to sit on the bench for a year though?

I don't think he will tbh.

If we did buy him, I would loan him back for the year until Reina goes
