I was just pointing to hypocrisy.... worry me not. I am merely prompting a discussion around the topic on a fans' forum - I don't think I've done much wrong in doing so, and I acknowledged a potential absence of facts in the opening post. I'm not doing anything. By the looks of it, Adam Blackmore will approach the club and ask what the situation relating to the person is before anything - judging by his tweets on the matter. I also think as well as it being wrong to brand this the entire truth, it is wrong to refer to it as "an irritating wind up". Like you say, get all the facts first. If I don't have them, neither do you. So seemingly maturity doesn't make all the difference, judging by this post and other recent ones that can be credited to your username.
Exactly I'm sure if the fan in question reports the issue to someone higher up in the ticket office then the issue will be resolved and the club will apologise. No need to get the press involved they'll only demonise Cortese some more. Can't even blame the ticket office worker if they don't follow the rules then they'll be sacked.
By the looks of it, he's speaking to the Saints Disabled Supporters Association and going down the route of trying to talk to someone senior at the club.
Good, this issue will be resolved relatively easily I think. The club won't want the bad press and the fan is genuinely disadvantaged so it should be a relatively painless apology and providing of season tickets.
The post by Turkish is a serious matter of public concern. The wind up was my thread on computer games. They are at the opposite ends of the spectrum of what is important to us all. If what Turkish has written is true then I will be dismayed at the way his father has been treated. However I shall reserve my judgement until the club makes a statement. In the meantime so this matter can be treated with the gravity it deserves I suggest we stop insulting each other.
Sounds to me like a change in the way benefits are paid has not been assimilated by the club yet. I assume receipt of Incapacity Benefit is the yardstick Saints use to confirm disability. To call it disgrace is a bit premature when it doesn't sound like an appeal has been made or heard yet. I hope that they sort it out for the gent concerned. In the meantime, ladders out and let's get off our high horses.
Yes, that's quite clearly what's happening here. To be honest, I think it was a bit ****ty of this Turkish fella to go straight to the internet to have a moan when it seems like it's an administrative error that can easily be corrected. That is, of course, if what he says is true. No reason to try and get people riled up about it.
That's a fair enough comment. There appears to have been some previous confusion in relation to earlier posts then. Apologies.
This will be sorted out in no time, we will just have no need to read The Echo for the next week their stories are sorted.
As CF says, lets climb down and see what happens. I imagine the idea that the receipt of benefits document is the issue here. Well, I can see a certain error to the initial post by myself, perhaps ultimately failing to fully considering the matter, potential outcomes and explanations beforehand and also in how best it would be to approach the posting of such a matter. For that, I am more than willing to admit a mistake here and apologise.
You've done nothing wrong by posting it, but as has been said this smacks of administrative error, and has been pointed out by the more sensible posters. The flip side of course being that some will leap all over something like this to have a tedious pop at the club, and the supposed Mr Evil incarnate.
Well there we go then. I'm not sure exactly what his thought process was, but it doesn't take a genius to work out it's more likely to be an innocent administrative error in the ticket office than evil calculated discrimination of a disabled person.
Exactly. But I'm sure some will take glee in the image of Cortese, stroking a white cat on his lap whilst cackling about 'brand Southampton' pressing a big red button marked 'eject the disabled'. Reality being he won't have even remotely heard about this issue.
I think you're way over being judgemental on -DTLW, StG. He has just reposted something that occurred on SaintsWeb and has left it for comment. He has also mentioned that it maybe just one side of the story. Before you rush to judge in your defence of the club by talking down to -DTLW, why not we all just wait for the outcome. -DTLW, seeing as you introduced the topic I shall wait for your updates on it. And btw, if it does turn out to be true then it is indeed a sad way to treat a lifelong fan, but I'm not going to rush to judgement. Again, if true, I would hope that the club put right what may be wrong, if it is at all possible. You now see how a person can give an opinion without having all the facts at their disposal.
It is a tricky one. The club has to have a way of knowing that someone is disabled, or every unscrupulous twat is going to be trying it on, a logical way to do this is to show the receipt of a benefit all disabled people can receive. I think this has basically fallen outside of the "typical" guidelines, hopefully it will get resolved soon.
