Higgs on the section 106 "I share your frustrations about the amount of time taken to sign the section 106 agreement on the Memorial Stadium site. Some five weeks ago I was told the document was almost ready for signing, but for a number of reasons, outside of our control, this has not happened yet. I have spoken to Sainsburyâs on Tuesday morning, and their solicitors have now received the engrossed bound document to check over, and this will hopefully commence the signing process. This document has to be signed by several parties and subject to there being no further amendments we hope this will be concluded in the next seven days. I will let you know when I am in receipt of the document for our signature. Although these delays will obviously push back the start date on the new UWE Stadium build, this does not currently cause us any issues, as we do have plenty of spare time to play with to be ready for the 2015/16 season. However we are all very keen get started on this project as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience, I will continue to keep you updated when we get more information."
still on target though to be completed in time for 2015/16 season. could have been completed half way through 2014/15 season. football league may have not allowed to change grounds mid season so wouldnt move in until 2015/16 season anyway and easily still on target. we have waited well over 20 years, a week or 2 more shouldnt bother us.
i just hope after all this, that when they start digging up uwe that they dont find something that means we cant continue
There's loads of work going on in the area to upgrade the local shopping centre next to Abbeywood. Once they get started it won't take them long before a stadium starts to rise up into the sky. Can't wait!
I've always said that this is the 'Phoney War' where nothing much happens before it all kicks off in earnest. Worry not my beauties, by the end of the summer a glorious 21,700 state-of-the-art stadium will rise on the Frenchay/Filton border....
I am reliably informed that Nick Higgs expected the 106 to be signed off today; but was then somewhat 'irritated' to hear that the Sainsbury's solicitor dealing with the matter had taken the day off and would be back in on Monday!
