2007: Redmond, making his U21 debut, is really troubling this remarkably handsome Italian defence. This time he skips over a few challenges and hits a shot from 20 yards over the bar.

 

2009: Big claims for a penalty here, Verratte gets a clear sight of goal but a strong tackle from Jack Robinson stops the forward in his tracks. Claims for a penalty are waved away, replays show that Robinson did actually catch Verratte with his trailing leg. But then again Italians are diving cheats.

 

2012: Jonjo Shelvey goes in strong for a challenge with his studs up. Trademark Shelvey tackle there, this lad is the next Scholes. Bless.

HALF TIME

A dull affair. The half ends 0-0, England have now not conceded for 9 and 1/2 games.

2021: Immobile had a good half, he troubled the England defence a few times and came close to scoring twice. I knew the lad was destined for big things ever since I bought him on Fifa.

 

I think Lorenzo Insigne will do really well under Rafa Benitez next season if he stays there. The 3-4-1-2 doesn't really suit Insigne and I think Rafa's 4-2-3-1 will suit him more.

 

Does look a decent player, will probably get more games to flourish too once Cavani depatures. This U21 Italy team has a few good players, wasn't long ago Ballotelli was playing in this side either.

 

2031: SH KICK OFF - Voldemort and Heskey get the second half on the way.

 

2034: The ball is in the net for England! Wickham is played through by Clyne, the forward sticks the ball in the net but is flagged offside. Looked tight that.

 

England 0 - 0 Italy EDIT: GOAL DISALLOWED.

England win a corner, the ball is the swung in and falls to a player I can't recognize, the ball is hit towards goal and Dawson gets his head on the ball to knock the ball home.

Not quite sure what's going on here, the goal has apparently been disallowed, 0-0 remains the score.

 

2044: The tackles are flying about here, there's been a few tasty challenges. And this time I'm not referring Italians to ice creams. I'll leave that to Rio Ferdinand.

2048: Close! Borini comes close to an opener with a smart header towards Butlands near post, who makes a smart stop to turn it away for a corner. Absolutely majestic header from a player who oozes class.
