I think the fall in figures has something to with the fact that in races at least for the time being Di Resta is the leading Brit. Viewing figures in Britain has always been reliant on the 'casual' fan and they are always likely to switch off when there is no leading Brit challenging at the front. This could change of course if Merc get their tyre problems sorted out. Also Spanish GP coincided with one of the final weekends of the football season which is always likely to take away viewers. The big test of viewing figures comes in the next few weeks BBC will be under pressure to get higher figures for the next 3 races due to circumstances being more in their favour. Last year Monaco was down on viewers perhaps due to the warm weather at the end of May (which we do not have this year) Canada was a highlights show at an unreasonable time and Britain clashed with a Murray-Federer Wimbledon final.
BT are desperately short of content, so I could really see it happening. They'll probably chase more football though.
can't rule out ITV trying to get it back, i almost miss the challenge of trying to make a cup of tea and some toast in an advert break
Lol memories of hoping for an overtake. Then coming back from an advert to see the driver in the tyre barrier
Too true remember San Marino 2005? Three laps to go an immense fight for the lead (rare in that era) but lets go for an ad break!
Hmmmmmm, F1 considering charging for races streamed online .....It would not take a great deal of time to implement the plan because 56 out of F1’s 63 broadcasting contracts expire before the end of 2015 so the online entitlement could be removed then. Furthermore, the ten largest contracts accounted for £240.2m ($363.3m) in 2011 and half of them are amongst those which expire by the end of 2015......
What an awful article from Benson. One bad race and he's acting like Ferrari are no longer quick enough to challenge and Alonso is in decline. What an idiot. I reckon it's John Watson.
Im thinking of starting an Andrew Benson thread and linking it to every post he does. Maybe we could send a little interest our way
It's **** like this which pisses me off. This is a quote from the Perez article yesterday. What makes Button more of a 'gentlemen' or nice guy when compared to guys like Kimi and Alonso? Because he is willing to suck up to media types like Benson? He put that line in the article over tyres and racing the other day as well. Awful 'journalism' If you can call it that, guy needs to be replaced ASAP.
To be fair, I feel like Button is a "gentleman racer". Don't know why, but it's a strong feeling, might be to do with the fact he doesn't seem that aggressive
I remember me and Cosicave agreeing that Jenson is a nice guy, but he does have a ruthless side and that he can just hide it better than most. He plays it well I'll give him that, but this is no better than Vettel and Alonso at Monza 2012 IMO, yet that's his own team mate... Did find this slightly cringworthy afterwards by him, just a bad as Vettel trying to kid everybody that he was sorry for sticking two fingers at his team at Malaysia. It's not on the video but the part where Davidson tackles Jenson about his aggressive behaviour really summed him up for me in which how he reacted back of a personal insult to Anthony. It doesn't take much to piss Jenson off that's for sure.
