Isn't that the truth, last weeks game was record idiocy even for our lot though. Bumper crowd turned up due to the nice weather, first we realised the goals we use were locked in the house of a friend who had gone to Scotland with work (we invested as a group in 6 aside goals as the field takes them down during the summer), but the crowning glory came when we realised no one had a ball! :steam: Had to jump in the car and drive to Sports Direct to get one and play with jumpers for goalposts, disaster really!

This really pisses me off. I know football isn't a summer sport but when all the school kids are on their summer holidays surely they should keep the goals up because that's when they'll get the most use. My old Secondary school still keeps its nets up but unfortunately term is still on and it would be weird being surrounded by Secondary school kids on their lunch break. As a result we usually go down to the park and improvise a goal out of the big metal sheets that are used in cricket matches down there. (not sure how they're used though, anyone care to enlighten me?)

Grass needs a break. I grew up opposite a huge park and they'd take the goals down (all 30 of them) as soon as the last game was done. You wouldn't have wanted to play on those pitched at that time of year anyway. Threadbare hard dirt and rocks all over with rare patches of green on the wings. Then they re-seed and nurse them over the summer to start using them again.

Hmm yeah, looks like it's a bit more that way. I would have probably been able to see him out of my works window if I had known to look!

Nature produces equal numbers of men and women, but you don't actually need that many men. There are a lot of spares supposed to die in fights between tribes and on hunting trips. Since this doesn't happen enough in modern life, nature also makes young men very stupid. The sensible ones live to breed.

It is! There are lots of interesting and fascinating books that they've published recently or are publishing in the near future! My line manager gave me a copy of one, a book called Contemporary Japan, as I was involved in marketing it and mentioned I was really interested in Japan and that it sounded like an interesting book. Unfortunately they didn't have any spare copies of Discovering the Universe.

If you were an animal, you'd be a spider, Fran. You'd mate, then you'd eat your partner as he'd served his purpose.

Had a choice between moldy bread and bread that smelt like glue..but was not moldy. Went with the glue smelling bread.
