The following blog post hs been stolen from RepofManc but talks about the world of Premier league football back in 2004 when Mr Mourinho, fresh of a Champions League win with Porto took over at Chelsea before going on to take them to the very top of english footbll for a short period at least.

He is up against a completely different United. A vastly superior side to the one back in 2004. A team who are so far ahead of Chelsea that even though they outspend us around 3/1 they have finished ahead of us once in 6 years. His job this time round makes trying to haul in Barcelona relatively easy.

Also Chelsea fans will have to deal with the fact Jose doesn't really want to be there. It's a hard pill to swallow but what other option did he have. He was done at Real and the job he really wanted was given to Moyes. The club he loves above all others didn't need him right now and PSG are probably below him. Its hardly a bad choice, Chelsea are a decent cup side so an FA Cup or two is inevitable. He will need to spend millions to address the issues in the league but I am sure he will get the backing to begin with ( within FFP rules of course ) but he's got possibly the toughest job of his career in front of him now.

All Moyes has to do is maintain the pressure. If Moyes does no worse than keeping within touching distance of Chelsea ( assuming they do well and top the table ) then come the last few months of the season I imagine we will reel Chelsea in. The in fighting will start and it will all go full circle.

I sense a whole lot of angry Chelsea bile coming your way for this bit <laugh>

It is going to be interesting tho' - it'll be the first time Mourinho has taken over a club that didn't finish in the top two of the league in the previous season, and the first time in years he hasn't had a massive financial advantage. Definitely one of his biggest challenges, next season will be very interesting.

They will be angry, hes using them for a pay packet until something better comes along. Its unfortunate for him that the season he finally gets on Madrids tits ( quite an achievement, should be rewarded for this ) the big clubs all get new managers or are in no need of one.

Bad timing but what can he do?

After appointing Below Average Moyes they need something to make themselves feel better.....unfortunately you can tell from their tone that they are literally ****ting themselves.

Not really. Looking forward to it.

Plus Mourinho hasnt won a PL game in his last 11 attempts or something. Moyes will eat him alive with a side of haggis.

I think that's total pony tbh, the current United squad is not vastly superior to the squad of '04, that's simply not true.

You've also glossed over the major difference this time around. United have lost the thing that set them apart from the rest - Ferguson.

Moyes has got a long road ahead of him before he can add the extra % or 2 that merely the presence of Ferguson gave his sides (let alone the tactical nouse etc) This season will be one of transition for Moyes & United, Chelsea with Mourinho might be the ones to take advantage of that, but I personally think that the league will be far more open this season, due to the major changes at most of the top clubs this summer.

True. But can you blame him, given that CPofL is proportionally much easier to wind up that other posters.

    Proportionally <ok>

we finished a good 10% plus ahead so that leaves Moyes at least 8% clear I assume.

Perhaps not vastly superior, but certainly superior by some way. Our 04/05 side was probably the weakest under SAF, with the possible exception of the 01/02 squad. RVN was disinterested and injured, Keane was practically shot with no mobility, Carroll and Howard were playing 'I can't believe they're not butterfingers', Kleberson, Djemba2, Bellion and Miller were stealing their wages, and Silvestre was the player with the most appearances.

Ronaldo and Rooney were showing talent, but were both very raw and neither anywhere near their prime. Rooney was our top scorer with 11 league goals, which is one fewer than in his most recent 'terrible' season. Scholes, Giggs, Rio and Heinze were the only senior players performing at a decent level, and of those only Scholes was really playing well.

Ronaldo, the teenager who scored 9 in 50. Ruud who played 17 games and scored a mighty 6 goals.

Our 3rd top scorer was Alan Smith with 6. Player like kleberson, Bellion, Djemba x2, Liam Miller, Richardson, Forlan, Fortune and Carroll.

tell you what, come back when you know what the **** you are talking about

What's how they individually performed got to do with the squad strength you melt?

I notice you omitted the 17 goals scored by Rooney & the dozen by Scholes

It's obvious that you're ****ting yourself about Mourinho coming back & it's hilarious tbh
