I thought first half he just shot on sight instead of trying to play in a team mate, which would have been the better option.

2nd half you'd swear he'd been taken off at half time. Completely anonymous.

The thing is, even if he is a success at Barcelona he is NOT going to be as good as Messi and he will NOT emulate Pele.

People who makes such ridiculous claims should have their heads examined!

Except when Ronaldo arrived at Utd he was 18. Neymar is now 21, which is the same age at which Nani joined Utd, again with 20 stopovers and no end product.

It remains to be seen which way Neymar will go, but I'd be surprised if he ended up close to the same level as Ronaldo or Messi.

Neymar will flop, guaranteed, from a financial point of view mainly. he will score a few goals but against the **** teams and he'll disappear against madrid or europe.

I watch a lot of brazilian football and the defending is a ****ing joke. The only reason brazil have some decent defenders like david luiz and thiago silva is because they came to europe at the age of 20 and it's only then that they really developed.

I'm sure neymar will crush the likes of sociedad and almeria but he's just an act and will get bitch slapped by any Ramos or Chiellini.

yet even though there is a couple of years difference the terms are still the same, both moved from their native league to a bigger club and improve thereafter, of course it is yet to be seen, but stop making me laugh with looking for discrepancies to try prove some point you aren't even making one.

Lets put it this way, so many of ye call Rooney world class, Neymar was far better than Rooney the other night deflected goal or not. So by that logic the OP doesn't make sense.

besides I think the lad will just prove the bitters wrong, it is bitterness of sorts to be slating him as the most overrated payer in history by people who have not seen even one of his league games and have just seen the odd showing for Brazil. They wont admit that is the case but it is.

I remember the same **** about Messi on this board a time back. Oh he's done nothing with Argentina, Ronaldo is so much better, he wouldnt do it on a cold evening in Stoke and all that bollox, Xavi and Inestia make him look good, he never scored against an English team. All that ****e about a player that wins best player in the world over and over. Now the same stupid shortsighted comments are yet again being made of what is clearly a very talented young player who will definitely be improved by Barcelona.

Can you at least admit that if United signed him you lot would be expecting great things in the near future from him and arguing the opposite when others would call him overrated, I doubt it but that is the case.

neymar is a better footballer than Wayne Rooney and he will only get better and you call Rooney world class. Go Figure

And as I said, so did Nani and he was at a similar level when he arrived at Utd as Ronaldo. Just three years older. So there is no way to tell whether Neymar will end up like Ronaldo or like Nani, or completely differently.

If Utd signed him I would hope he would perform at a high level, just as I think most Barca fans are expecting him too. But I wouldn't expect him to be the next Ronaldo, and if we paid almost £50m for him I'd be gobsmacked given how similar 'outstanding talents' from Brazil like Robinho, Denilson (not the Arsenal one) and Anderson failed to impress after big money moves to top leagues in Europe.

As for all the rest of your post, the usual pointless comparisons, Rooney obsession, and endless BS based on imagined posts by unspecified people. Why do you even bother?

Until he proes himself to be on a consistent basis, no he isn't.

At the moment Neymar is a reputation and that is it.

Rooney has done it over a sustained period, whether you choose to accept that or not is immaterial, so until such times as Neymar pitches up and shows us how good he is, he is NOT better than Rooney.

I met some Brazilian guys while in Berlin in the summer of last year and we had a debate on Neymar. I have always thought he's been over rated and prospering in a poor league with shocking defending. Also, everytime I watched him play on tv I'd felt he wasn't anything special... talented sure and with the potential to be very very good but not the world class player in the ranks with messi/ronaldo/maradona/pele etc that people were claiming. They, on the other hand, had seen him live numerous times having and one of them being a season ticket holder at Santos. They were insistent that he was the real deal and that when you see him live you see just what quality he really has and that he would with no doubt be the real deal if and when he moved to a top European side.

I still think he's going to struggle, big time at first while he adjusts to a much better league but I have to respect the opinion of people that have seen him play live over a long period of time, and therefore feel he will come good after a season or two (just like Ronaldo at Utd). Having said that, 48 million is a lot of money and he'll need to realise a lot of the potential he has to justify that fee.

How exactly does that prove that saying Neymar is overrated doesn't make sense?

Neymar was ****ing awful the other night. In the first half he just took several pot shots and came nowhere near to scoring instead of going for the better option of playing in a team mate. 2nd half you'd swear he wasn't even on the pitch.

People have said Neymar will be better than Messi and Pele. Therefore, if he doesn't reach that level (which there is **** all chance of happening) then he will be proven to be overrated. Get it?

Neymar has the talent to be one of the great players but seeing people comparing him to Messi and Ronaldo is a bit too much.

I believe Neymar might actually do well for Barcalona, he can learn few things of Messi and he's the type of player who would love to have shots at goal at every chance, which he will get at barca because Barca creates a lot of chances, he needs to toughen up too a bit, rather then going to the floor at every single touch.

he will do well for barca, will become a great player but forget the likes of Pele he won't even reach the level of Ronaldo or Messi.

I can see Sisu talking few rubbish too again, even Ronaldo at the age of 19-20 was a better player then Neymar.
