Agreed Bandit swop Trotta & Brigg But i fear managers are a bit more savy nowdays, and their potential would have been well scrutinized. Re: Donnigan i feel this lad could turn out a great signing for some club.
Saw in a couple of todays gossip columns, that we are interested in Jorden Rhodes. Of all the names that are mentioned, and could be coming our way,for me, this is the one that i could get excited about.
Not for the £10m quoted price though ros. I don't disagree that he's worth that much, he absolutely is, but we can't afford to blow our entire budget on one player, especially a player that isn't a central midfielder. I think Gomis would be a better and cheaper option from Lyon.
Did not realise that the asking price was 10m Bandit, but nevertheless we have 20m from the 2Ds transfer alone, surely the club can stick another 10m in the kitty without breaking the bank. A high profile player would help sell the season tickets, as this years sales are the slowest for some 5 seasons.
Well they signed him for £8m last season and since then he has had a profitable season in the Championship and is still very young. I think the fact that we baulked at the £4m asking price for Enoh suggests we don't have £20m available.
Recent tabloid talk has quoted Blackburn`s manager, Gary Bowyer, "any club wanting to sign Jordan Rhodes would have to start the bidding at £10 million." Can't remember exactly but from memory, last summer's rumours said that we were prepared to pay £5m plus add ons. Would we be prepared to go double one year later? Also we have apparently baulked at Villa's £8m for Bent. Because of age I accept the two valuations are not necessarily like for like, but I think you're right Bandit. Sounds like toe in the water stuff, if anything.
Still think we could offer a substantial amount + add ons, and a couple of swop players, but definatly not Bent.
I'd prefer to keep Hugo, we aren't exactly flush with striking options with Petric and Trotta's future up in the air. Hugo at least tries.
Rumours around (the latest in Austrian paper Der Standard - no relation I hope) that weâre after French left winger [B[Bakray Sako[/B]. please log in to view this image Currently with Wolves, having scored 10 goals and had as many assists to his credit last season, heâs valued at £3m. All the speculation about wingers makes me think that Jolâs strategy for next season is back to what he likes best - open, wide play. Bakary, like JET of Ipswich who plays on the right, is another big guy for a winger so Jol may also be looking for more oomph out wide.
Reasonable shout that one. As long as he has the quality, I mean Wolves weren't good enough for the Championship this year so they must have a lack of quality and £3m is quite a lot for a league one player, although his potential may be worth that, granted.
This one came up two or three weeks back. The Wolves fan I know says Sako was one of their better players, but was injured for a lot of last season (hence Wolves' struggles). He also said that Sako would look a better player in a better side that liked to play passing football (like us).
Steckelenburg to Fulham. If so, do you reckon Jol would reduce the current asking price of £4m for David Stockdale down to a realistic sum? Also, in regards to Sako, he was easily their best player last Season. Got a hell of a shot on him, good free-kick 'n all.
Doubt it's Jol setting the price, it's almost certainly the board, but I would think there would be a bit of wiggle room if we sign Stekky or indeed, another keeper. It also depends on if we sign another reserve keeper or promote one. If Stocky and Schwarz go that only leaves Etheridge.
I'm not sure that £4m is unrealistic for a 27 year old keeper with more than 150 first team appearances, some experience in the Premier League and who has been called up by England before now. If anyone else shows an interest I would be surprised to see us dropping the price. Good luck for next season, either way.
Well, whilst he was a good Championship GK for us last Season, I, along with many other fans, believe he's probably worth more around £1-£2million. And cheers, same to you guys. Always had respect for Fulham. You're like the 'kind' London Club
It's not really about how good or how poor Stockdale was in the Championship, he has proven himself capable of playing in the PL, and that's where the £4m comes from. Butland went for more and has absolutely no experience at the top level, £4m is a bargain. If you had asked Burnley fans to give Kaca a price tag based on his performances in the Championship, or Frei's with Cardiff, they would be much different to how Fulham value them, due to the fact they have been here and done it at the highest level.
Point well made. However, I highly doubt that we'd fork out £4million for Stockie when we could get better for cheaper. There's Given available for FAT, we're currently chasing Kasper Schmeichel as well. Goalkeeper and striker are our priorities this Transfer Window, so we need to get a healthy balance in funds in order to make the most of what's available.
Schmeichel is a good keeper in my book and you'll do well if you sign him. Schwarzer would be a better buy, though.
