Apologies Darremi. The pedigree of the next foal is not above (the pedigree of the first foal is in the other thread).

    This foal,. Same Sire.

Dam. She is by Kings Master (who is by Master Imp out of a King of Diamonds mare) out of Clovers Lady, by Clover Hill. I have a couple of pictures of the mare, one jumping in a Ladies International at Auvers and one in the main outside arena at the Normandy Horse Show, Saint Lo. Can't seem to load them at present but will add them later.

We have another mare who we tried to get in foal to our stallion but she didn't take. She is by Touchdown (by Galoubet) out of a mare from Furisto (by Furioso 11).

Your daughter must be a very talented rider to produce all those horses. Having had a 7/8 TB as my last eventer I decided to buy a WB this time because they tend to sell on for more. Believe it or not he was bred in Ireland by a Dutch lady. The sire has now been gelded, and is an Oldenburg by the Grand Prix show jumper Lordanos.

    http://www.jumpinaction.net/gallery%202011/Kill%20Sunday%20october%209th%202011/7/med/Vincent_Byrne_-_cordonos266KillAllianzIndoorChampgpSun9thOct2011.htm

The mare was a Zweibruecken imported to Ireland from the Gestut Falkenhorst in East Germany, by Morgengold I, a palomino WB. My horse is a mixture of Trakener and Oldenburg. He has taken a while to learn how to gallop, and his stamina still needs developing, but he has a lot more scope over fences than my TB. A show jumper has already offered to buy him!

Indeed I am familiar with Cavalier Royale, sire of Mary King's two great eventers Call Again Cavalier and Imperial Cavalier. I understand he is not Irish but a Holsteiner, which is very confusing as he is registered ISH!!

I notice the popularity of French stallion Jaguar Mail has grown in the UK as an eventing sire. His sire Hand In Glove was also trendy. Has Jaguar Mail produced any decent show jumpers? I must say that I do like the Selle Francais, it is a lovely type of horse for eventing, lighter than the German and Ducth WBs, though they can be a little sharp temperament-wise.

Your foals look lovely. Are you aiming to breed an Olympic show jumper? The Kings Master mare has a nice eventing pedigree so if that foal does not make it as a SJer some eventer will definitely snap it up!

Anyway, sorry for going on there!! I find breeding fascinating.

I'll check with my daughter when she comes round tomorrow.

Actually we are just a bunch of cowboys/girls - not for the faint hearted

To think all of our home bred horses originated from a pony. And here she is, 12 years ago.

Lovely looking pony Ron. Great knee action! <cool> My old horse who competed at Burghley CCI4* was by a riding pony stallion. She was the nippiest, most intelligent horse I ever rode. It was like she read the XC course map the night before and I just put her on auto-pilot!

I'm not going to be around much, for the next 2 weeks. Off to England for a couple of days before shooting off to a wedding in Spain. Nice chatting to you. Hopefully will have 2 more foals when I return.

It would be nice to know more about your exploits as I seem to be monopolising the "Social Corner".

Don't know too much about Jaguar Mail but he is at the Saint Lo stallion parade every year and my daughter (Amanda) gave him a pat last time she saw him. She has hacked out a horse from the same stud (Frascator Mail) - one of her good friends used to compete on him.

Our breeder friends will probably know more as they compete young stock at Saint Lo every year. They are coming to look at our foal next week so I'll get Amanda to ask them.

Wow that's really impressive!! It's always been my dream to have a picture in Horse and Hound

My exploits: I have been eventing since I was 14 years old, and ridden since I can remember! I always bring on horses from 4/5 and start them out myself as that way all the mistakes are your own! Nothing worse than spending years trying to fix up a horse ruined by somebody else. My first proper horse I got when I was 16yo as a just backed 4yo and she took me to CCI2* when I was 19yo. That was the wee TB mare I mentioned earlier. I gave up eventing for a few years to concentrate on University and she went a really good professional. She eventually made it to Burghley CCI4* and the German CCI* at Luhmulhen.

Here's the video of her going round Burghley in case you're interested:

Sadly she suddenly died in 2012 aged only 11, from an unknown neurological infection. She was a real star of the family and I had hoped to breed a foal from her.

This is my current lad that I told you about the other day:

    flynnie.jpg

As you can see he tends to overjump a little when he gets green! He's coming along really nicely, but unfortunately he did one of his massive leaps whilst XC schooling a few weeks back and I broke my collar bone, but we will be out competing as soon as it's fixed up.

He's just at CIC* level right now, but I hope to take him to Gatcombe CIC2* in September if all goes to plan, but this season I've had some bad luck to be sure. He went lame then I went lame!!

I really like eventing because I love the thrill of the cross country. I really need to get my show jumping a bit better though because I tend to get a bit nervous in that phase. It's very much about balance and precisions and training whereas XC is more by feel

I hope your two mares are coming along nicely. I look forward to seeing the foal pictures, I love foals!!

Thanks for the video link Darremi. That looks scary. Sorry to hear you lost her last year. We lost Amanda's first horse last year while on loan. Amanda took him (and vice versa) from complete novice to International 2* level with seconds and thirds at that level but never managed the win (4 secs clear at the last in one and stopped). The young girl who was riding him was getting on so well then tragedy struck. They did everything they could but eventually he said good bye and it was devastating for all of us.

Sounds like a nasty accident you had. Hope you have a speedy recovery and good luck with your new lad. Keep us informed.

That is sad to hear you lost your daughter's first horse. Working with horses involves complete heartache at times. They do say bad luck comes in threes, and today my lad has gone lame behind, probably a muscle in his back. Completely gutted, not sure if he'll get out eventing this summer at all. If not eventing, I am going join the BSJA and get to grips with some pure show jumping this winter!

You mentioned that you had a couple of other foals due, how are the mares getting on?

One should be foaling any day now. The other one (the Dancing Brave granddaughter) is due around 10 days after that; she is under close watch, with the vet, because she was stitched when younger and needs to be slit. <yikes>

Had the vet round to check out the mare that had to undergo an operation recently (everything is fine).

She adores our Dancing Brave granddaughter (Runi) and without being asked just went into her box and checked her out (internally and waxed teats); all the signs are that she will produce either tonight or tomorrow night. Fingers crossed. She was inseminated 10 days after the other mare who must also be imminent, having just reached full term. Both on the same night is a strong possibility <yikes>

They are just hanging on to foal at the most inconvenient time for you Ron!

Hope the foals arrive safe and sound.

It's neck and neck. Izzy, who is now 345 is down and grunting. Runi, who is 335 was down and grunting 10 mins ago but is now back up. Gemima had hers (Dahlia) on 335 and also had her first foal (Anabella) on 335. Both Izzy and Runi have wax and milk although Runi shows more in that respect. Gemima showed hardly any signs and her foal popped at in a few minutes; although that was her second and her first took much longer. Wouldn't surprise me if around 1.30 we had 2 new foals.

Oh FFS these two are having a laugh. They are both up and eating as though nothing has happened. I've given up trying to predict with these. <doh>
