According to Rob Tanner No transfer in or out are imminent Nigel usually moves fast in the market as by this point last year we had Matty James, Ritchie De Laet and Jamie Vardy all signed
Maybe Moyes doesn't know how tight Ferguson and Pearson are It could be that we are looking for more experienced players this time round, so it may take longer than getting those in with little championship experience, or it could be that we really do need to shift players first, so expect all our business to happen on deadline day after Beckford has been shifted BUT NOT THIS REASON! please log in to view this image
Our season went on longer because of the play-offs and because there's no major tournament this year?
I think you're not a million miles off. Getting rid of the deadwood that won't figure for us is as important as bringing players in. We have more overpaid players to get rid of than gaps in our first team.
Put it this way Danns, Wellens, Beckford, St. Ledger and Gallagher are on around 20-30K a week each None of them played any sort of role for us last season. St. Ledger had a little run in the side but nothing more You cant afford to keep that sort of deadwood
This is where FFP could work against you and other clubs with big squads. Teams who would like to take your "deadwood" players might not be able to do so this season because of what it would cost them. Players at a lot of clubs who aren't in the first team picture could find themselves picking up their wages for doing absolutely nothing while their contracts run down and at the end of that might not even get a new club.
Our squad's pretty small, the problem is that we just have a fair few high earners who don't play. Second fewest players used last season, Barnsley had a much bigger squad than us!
Manchester United have signed a young full-back, Gullermo Varela, hopefully that ends their interested in Jeff Schlupp. Surely an integral part of our team next season.
