Do you think you can get close to Chelsea next season if we get Jose and invest, with or without Bale?
We were talking about Bale's stats this season though, so the question was who would have come in from your squad to have made that 'contribution' you mention.
Obviously that depends on your investment. With the resources you have you could easily go beyond the level that we can compete at. Our only hope is that Mourinho ends up falling out with your players as he has with the Real players last season. At the moment we are not far behind you and we will have Kaboul and Sandro back, so we are on a level. If you then sign £100m worth of players and they live up to their billing, then it will be hard for us. Basically I can't answer your question until I see who you buy. Not sure Jose on his own will make that much of a difference over Rafa, but backed with the right players then that's different.
You might as well include Mata for Chelsea or Carzorla for Arsenal. Unless he got injured after the winter transfer window opened, why would we be without him or a replacement or three? I think, to answer the question, it wouldn't have been one player who'd have stepped up, I think if we were less Bale centric, then all the players would have filled the gap. In his position would have been Siggy, and I have a feeling he will be a very special player in a year or two.
I don't think they want him which is why he's talking about them and trying to get something going. Atletico is as good as he'll get.
Even just by watching the sides without either player, you can tell that Spurs would definitely crumble without the Golden boy. After Suarez got banned at Liverpool, Coutinho and Sturridge definitely still looking the part. Wasn't it Suarez's first game banned when they beat Newcastle 5-0? (maybe 5-1, can't remember ). Whereas Spurs have no real attacking talent without Bale's blistering runs and long range belters.
