He's apparently the next big thing in Brazil. Take that with a pinch of salt though. Diego/Robinho were also meant to be the next big thing.
He's an attacking midfielder who likes to cut in from the left, apparently. No idea if he's any good but Ronaldinho seems to like him, so I guess that's an endorsement.
Robinho had everything but his attitude was poor and he didn't work hard enough. Ganso might be a better example. There were rumours of him leaving for £20/25mill and then he picked up a few injuries and got our of shape so by the time he left for £8mill pretty much everyone had written him off.
He's a Brazilian with an English name...so very en vogue. He seem's cultured enough. Would be a good replacement for Thud in the squad. I feel we have taken a back step personaly on the recruitment of hot young talents. Experience is good, but players like Dempsey are never going to get better. I hope we move to a midfield 3, and look to control games more moving forward. A midfield of: Sandro - Dembele ------Holtby------ Interchanging with Parker, Livermore and above kid for instance as back up would be promising. (this is asuming we lose bale) A three like that with a worldy up front and another class winger oppo lennon would not be a step back imo. (we would still need to invest in depth though to move forwards and getting a goal scoring mid is vital)
Not sure how much truth there is in all this, but Levy might want to pay attention!... http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2565...ed-at-villas-boas-10m-tottenham-buyout-clause
It was all pretty credible, Notso until: "According to well-placed sources, Villas-Boas has been frustrated by aspects of an impressive first season at White Hart Lane in which he led the club to its highest Premier League points total only to miss out on a Champions League qualifying place by a single point. In particular, he would like to have more control over the structure of his senior squad." The one thing that AVB has gone public about is his support for the TD role - something that flies in the face of the comment above. But as you say, if it fires a warning shot across Levy's bows then maybe it's not a bad thing....
According to marca, villa has told barca he wants to leave and has a precontract agreement with arsenal. Hmmm.
wasn't me but I'll join in anyway! yes, 'that flies in the face' sums that up. You say the rest is credible...is it? AVB is contracted to Spurs, the article says he's been approached by one club, and had 'a meeting' whilst on a visit to the Nou Camp...with Spurs knowledge/permission?...I don't think so. I cannot see Levy giving permission to speak to Napoli, and if AVB has without it, watch this space!
I think AVB ought to take time to settle. Porto to Chelsea and then to Spurs and to Napoli if it comes in the space of three years is pushing his luck a bit. If somebody had said to me that Harry was leaving in his first year with us I'd have been miffed but if AVB wants to go and does go then adios amigo,I won't mind. I know he's had a good season but I still think even he hadn't spoken to Napoli or whoever that we could have done better than him.
David Villa wants regular 1st team football in the run up to the WC, but I can't see him turning down CL with the Goons if its true. Whether playing in the same team as Bale is enough of a draw, we'll see.
There was a shoot-out between two of the strikers that we've been linked with yesterday, as Sevilla beat Valencia 4-3 to seal their place in the CL at their opponent's expense. Negredo got all four of his side's goals, while Soldado bagged a brace, with Ever Banega getting the opener. Giovani Dos Santos' Mallorca were relegated despite winning 4-2 in their final game against Valladolid. The Mexican almost missed the game, as his country tried to insist that he turn out for them this weekend in a friendly with Nigeria or face a ban. Ludicrous. He got their 3rd goal and a decent move for him this summer is being predicted by the media. Alan Hutton also played, on loan from Villa. Good goal, actually:
Sorry Notso - it was NSS - too many N's and S's...... Lol I also don't think Spurs would have given any permission for an approach - I read the bit about the meeting more to be a case of AVB being there more by coincidence than design. The fact Napoli might have wanted him was certainly credible. IMHO I don't reckon AVB is going anywhere, nor does he want to right now. Oh - and for general gossip, the Sunday Times are running with Real bidding a record £85m for Bale!!!
Lol. The bale price will just keep on rising! It's gone from £60m to £65m to £75m to €90m and now £85m, in the space of about 2 weeks. Yet when an official bid comes in, it'll be about £40m. And we'll probably end up selling....
Wouldn't selling a best player possibly make the others work harder to fill the gap? The goons are in the CL without RVP aren't they and had a magnificent end of season run,the time when it most matters incidentally.
Real Sociedad got the 4th CL spot, didn't they? That does help us if we're going for Soldado in the summer though. They'll surely have to sell this summer, they're always in financial trouble.
