The clubs value may be 4M, maybe 5M

But I tell you 1 thing for sure it is a hell of alot higher then the 1.25M you offering. Thats what we paid Leeds for him and he only had 12 months on his deal then. He was more then happy to stay at Leeds and run his contract down.

Kasper proved when he walked away from Notts County without any financial compensation that he isnt motivated by money.

    Because were not idiots

If we can get 2M for Matt Mills were not going to accept 2.5M for Schmeichel. Our owners are deadly serious about promotion and its not going to happen if you sell you best players on the cheap.

Isnt James Chester got 12 months on his contract? Would you accept 1.25M? or just laugh at the pathetic offer

Mike, come on, were you born yesterday?

Proud's valuation of Kasper is 5m (as is mine) but the clubs is 4m.

Was that so difficult to understand?

The first comment is somewhat subjective :D

Just because someone was daft enough to cough up £2Million for Mills doesn't mean you can gauge every future transfer deal by that particular piece of business

No one said you would accept £1.25 Million, but £2.5 Million with add ons could be enough

That would depend on how much the add ons where and what the terms of them was

If your club have said he is valued at £4m that usually is greater than what they would expect just like our bid of £1.25m is less than we will be willing to pay. All part of the negotiations, clubs meet somewhere in the middle and we get him for £2.5m to 2.75m

"In early February UEFA reminded clubs that they would be expected to prove that they were not trying to bypass FFP by entering into inflated sponsorship deals with parties closely associated with their owners.[181] The warning came in the wake of an announcement that Paris Saint-Germain had completed a deal with the Qatar Tourist Authority worth €200million ($262m) per year until 2016. As with the Manchester City agreement with Etihad Airlines, the news was met with considerable criticism in view of the ownership of the club by members of the Qatari royal family, however PSG President Nasser al-Khelaifi refused to accept that the club was doing anything wrong, telling L'Equipe; "We have been building an international brand. This deal is a strong symbol. Qatar have benefited a lot from their investments in PSG…it's necessary to become one of the great European clubs. Other clubs have invested for 20 years. We have been there for a year and a half and now we must stop pouring money? It would be unfair."[182] UEFA general secretary Gianni Infantino said: "Everyone, including PSG, know they have to demonstrate (that the sponsorship deals) are without cheating and that will be submitted to panels".

Not always, We set a price you either meet it or you dont simple as.

You have alot more chance of getting Fulham 4M valuation of Stockdale down then our 4M valuation of Schmeichel

If chezzy indicated he was not going to sign a new deal we would be left having to get what we could for him with our bargaining position significantly reduced as per your situation with Kasper.

We would however at least be able to offer regular first team football at the same level as his suitor's whereas there would be no guarantee of a game elsewhere as he's an unproven quantity in the premiership. Then it just boils down to money. He will always have options as long as he plays and does well at this level even if we do get relegated. He has a better chance to prove himself here than elsewhere though, and is settled in the area, which is why I'm hopeful he'll eventually sign after further negotiation.

I'm quite sure however that the fact we have made a bid on Kasper means his agent has given us the green light. The fact the club have quoted an acceptable fee means they accept they will probably loose him for less than 4m. Doesn't mean the move won't be hijacked of course, Just makes a mockery of the title of this thread.

At the risk of repeating myself - If you are not in the know, how do you know that is true about either Fulham / Stockdale or Leicester / Schmeichel? When it comes to transfer fees what we hope for and what we get are often two different things.

At no point has Kasper refused or said he will refuse a new contract. When he got asked he said he is very happy here and enjoys coming to training everyday

There has been no indication from anyone he is looking to leave so its no different then your situation with Chester other then you are in the Prem

Will be interesting to see what he eventually goes for then, won't it?

IFAIK, Stockdale has longer on his contract at Fulham, which increases their bargaining power and regardless, the same money for Stockdale of Schmeichel? I'd say Schmeichel represents better value, but it seems Alan Mcgregor from Besiktas (ex Rangers) is our fall-back target rather than Stockdale now, which will limit what we'll be prepared to spend on Kasper.

Saying that though, If your board do prevent him moving to a higher level in the last year of his contract against his wishes, then it increases the likelihood he won't sign a new deal at Leicester and you loose him on a Bosman in 12 months.

Yeah, but if a Europa league or established prem club came in for Chester, offering first-team football and the same or more money we were, I wouldn't be expecting him to stay. If we offer Kasper the same deal you are, the No1 jersey and football at a higher level then I would similarly expect him to want to move. No-one has bid yet on Chester, or publicly expressed an interest. If they did then he'd have to look at the terms just like Kasper, and will in his case have to make a decision between sitting on the bench for a bigger club in competition with more established players and proving himself at premiership level in the shirt every week at Hull, which may be better for his career in the longer term.

There are no guarantees Chester will sign another deal, though the club will have an idea of how much a similar replacement in terms of wages will cost and will be making their offer accordingly. I would expect though that both parties will look to compromise as the window progresses based on the strength of interest from other clubs. I expect Chester will be waiting to see what develops as will Hull for the time being.

That's the difference. Anyone who can offer Chester a significant step up won't be guaranteeing first team football. We effectively would be with Schmeichel.

Besides, a lot of talking between clubs and agents happen before bids are made. We wouldn't have bid if there was a negative response from the player's representatives at the prospect of a move. I would think it is likely Brucie will have been on the phone to his fellow Man Utd legend before making a bid.

At the moment there's a huge difference Proud, no one has reported that another club of higher league stature has placed a bid for Chester.

Not only that, no club playing at a higher level who's managed by one of his father's pals, has a childhood friend in the squad and is going to offer him first team football has yet made a firm bid for Chester.

Given that Bruce Junior went to the same school as Kasper, grew up as neighbours and played together both as kids and more recently at L**ds, His Dad and our manager played together in several title winning teams, speak highly of each-other and are still in regular contact; I seriously doubt we would be messing around making bids if the player wasn't at least interested in the move.

Given the above circumstances, I very much doubt it is beyond the wit of the Hull City management to sound out Kasper Schmeichel's representatives over his likely interest in a move before wasting time making speculative offers.

Funnily enough, the respected agent's website www.transfermarkt.co.uk has Kasper's current value at.....

    ....Yup, you guessed it....

    .....£2.2m.

I doubt any up-front fee will be more than that unless other clubs get involved, sparking a dutch auction.

Breaking News:" Kasper Schmeichel wants to play in Premiership next season" shock....

    Can't think why????:shocked::confused:
