Okay, we know we're good at showing up for matches, but still this surprises me a bit.

The 49904 average attendance at St James was 8th in Europe, behind:

    Ajax 50,044
    Arsenal 60,000
    Bayern Munich 69,000
    Borussia Dortmund 80,521
    Celtic 50,904
    Real Madrid 76,678
    Man United 75,387

Lowest league placing of the above: Arsenal, 4th.

Whatever the exact figure, it must rank as just about the highest attendance in response ot the least encouragement in professional sports

Third highest in England, just think what we could get with a winning team.

I don't like the big club debate but that is a massive indication to the profile of this club.

It's a shame we were never allowed to build on the Town Moor.
for big games we could easily top 70,000.

My OCD just makes me want to construct the two othersides of St James and to hell with the listed buildings. I doubt id get the whole lot done on my own though during the summer break lol. Im sure at one point they also wanted to construct a super casino near St james as well but that also went down the pan .........

I believe it's an area where the Freemen of the city were given the right to graze cattle back in the day.

Maybe it's written in stone that it can't be used for building on.
