How's it Ajax looking for tax back and not the Dutch government?

They have paid the tax, and had a refund by the looks of things. So it's out of the government's hands I think, it looks like a civil matter now which anyone can take. But I think Ajax has little to no chance of winning this, and even if they do win, how can they enforce a civil action outside of Holland? Their courts have no jurisdiction outside of the country, the same for ours outside this one.

This just goes to show that Accountants, Agents and Clubs dont always sort their business out properly, Im not sure how Ajax want Ml to pay them tax they've paid out but if it was me they wouldnt have a penny. They should have made sure everything was above board to start.

The timing of the action is more interesting. Ajax have deliberately made it just in the first couple of weeks of the new season.

It somewhat forces MLs hand to sort it out sooner IMO, especially as the Swansea board won't want this overshadowing the preseason.

It makes any chance of ML leaving of his own accord less likely though.I can here Tutumulu now "so that's £10 mill compo for Swansea, ML's new wage/ signing on fee and, oh can you pay his tax bill as well?"

Don't be a burk. Dai is right. What do you want to do - stick your head in the sand and hope it goes away? Get a grip. <doh>

We don't know if Laudrup is guilty of anything but it's worthy of discussion.

,,,and as for "I couldn't give a monkeys about the PC brigade on this board. In fact I have more respect for Dai at least with him what you see is what you get and he doesn't resort to underhanded and slimy little tactics like some do on this board."

I thought you were the one always whining like a girl about 'sly digs'. What a hypocrite. Go and have another beer and calm down. <ok>

This was posted in Amsterdam local newspaper Parool.

    Translation:

Bailiff H. Oude Elferink subpoenaed on behalf of A.F.C. Ajax mister Michael Laudrup, with no records of a permanent place of living or staying, on the 28th of May 2013, to appear in court on Thursday the 29th of August 2013 at 11:00 in the morning. Either Laudrup in person or representation is required to appear before court in Amsterdam.

It's a private matter for Laudrup to sort out it seems to me. No doubt those up the M4 will be making merry when they get wind of it but all we can do as Swans fans is hope this isn't too much of a distraction. The court appearance is after the start of the new season. I assume he'll be sending a representative along.

Valid points about a limitation on proceedings, Jager. It's ridiculous to sue someone after 18 years. It's not as if nobody knew where he was. <doh>

If Mikra is right this is nothing new and Ajax already know they'll never get the money back.

He'll probably be arrested in the airport at the beginningn of the pre season tour, led away in handcuffs. Dutch police is known for their brutal ways towards tax benefitters!

Yeah - he should resist being arrested. Maybe punching a poice offical.
Could be the beginning of a fantastic roadmovie (keeping the entire Swansea squad as hostages); eventally ending by putting a bullet through the head of the Ajax chairman, and signing a 5-year contract with Christian Eriksen (for free) as a compensation for dragging his name through the mud!

But it's not a tax issue involving the government, their involvement ended when Ajax paid up. And got a partial refund on appeal. This is a matter between the club and Laudrup from what I can see . So that means its a civil matter so not criminal. If the Dutch laws work in a similar manner to the uk laws, there is not a lot they can do when he has no assets in the country.

They may be bailiffs but all they are is a company bringing a civil case, they will not have powers outside the country IMO

I think that's right Jager - it's a civil debt that is in all likelihood unenforceable.

Bloody good point here.....Laudrup is a very wealthy man or he should be and he should attend court and either pay up or make some sort of arrangement with Ajax.....You cant make money out of transfers and get away with it and i wont be surprised that FIFA wont intervene if it is not sorted.....by the way its nothing to do with us its laudrups problem...
