Cabaye - The Thinking Behind The Transfer

Im starting to think even Marvin is a bit to Happy for Tiote

 

I reckon Gosling will act as cover for Tiote and Simpson so we'll definitely see a fair bit of him imo

 

This. Gosling's a good versatile squad player who can cover the whole midfield and the full-back areas.

Hope we get rid of Smith though, wages are simply too high for his quality(Championship/SPL).

 

Cabaye isn't a replacement for Barton. He'd play more of a Nolan role off a striker, don't think he's really one for carrying out his defensive duties and prefers to be an attacking link.

This is as it stands at the moment. I think we need someone like Jonas in the team who will really put in a shift going forward and defending. Not so sure Gervinho would, not that I don't want to sign him

 

Would like to see Guthrie go out on loan to Stoke, he's better than Whealen and Whitehead and could really come on with a full prem season. As for Gosling, I'd just like to see him fit and in contention. The season is long and no doubt we'll have plenty of injuries.

Still though would have preferred to see a winger or striker come in than another CM

 

Pardew has said he wants to play Ben Arfa behind a lone striker, so I think it will be something like this:

I think Gervinho coming in will just overload our midfield. Fantastic player but: Cabaye, Tiote, Barton, Nolan, Ben Arfa, Jonas, Gosling, Guthrie, Smith, Vuckic, Abeid, Ferguson.

 

I would suggest you can count on Barton, Tiote and perhaps Jonas being sold

One area we're not short in. An out and out striker has to be our priority.

 

Precisely. Ideally I'd like us to get Ba and Gameiro, then loan Ranger and sell/release/loan Xisco.

 

It is a bit odd that we have brought Cabaye because central midfield along with goalkeepers are the only areas where we are strong, I hope we have not just brought him because we can and that we do actually have a plan.

 

Can only imagine we're playing a very narrow formation next season with loads of CMs like Chelsea used to.

Narrow diamond, 4-1-2-1-2. Jonas as cover for Ben Arfa as he looks tidy "in the hole" as well.

 

If we play a narrow formation then we are definitely going to need to buy a new RB because there will be a lot more attacks coming down the flanks.

 

Mmm.. if you are going to have that formation.. you need 4 technical-adept CM's. Nolan isn't one of them unfortuntely. His style of play is more of a grafter. Although nice idea!

 

Diamond formations are a load of bollocks if I'm honest Sven can suck my areshole

 

He's a quality player. The more of them we have the better, cos we ain't got a lot after the first XI.

We'll need to have good players players in the team and on the bench to be a side challenging the top 6. Players like Barton shouldn't be first choice regardless of performances this season, same as Nolan.
