Also, the reason why his buyout clause is so ludicrously high (175M) is because Arsenal get 50%. There was the danger that Arsenal could trigger it. As it is, if Fabregas was willing, they could trigger it for 87.5M, still high, but a more sensible number. So it does seem likely that the 50% clause is in his contract, otherwise why set such a stupidly high number at all. So it does seem as if the United rumours are a load of bollocks, but the Arsenal rumblings still go on... http://www.theshortfuse.com/arsenal...ransfer-rumour-cesc-fabregas-return-barcelona Remember Pep was a big reason for him going to Barcelona.
I was thinking about this earlier and with him my team would be New GK/Szcz Sagna or new RB/Jenko..Mert/new CB..TV/Kos..Gibbs/monreal I'll give my first 3 here Ramsey/Wilshere/Fabregas but others could swap in like Arteta, Caz or Rosicky Walcott/Ox..Pod/new striker..Caz/Ox/Gervinho Gives quite a strong looking squad with only a couple 3 new additions well within the reported £70m. I genuinely think we could even challenge for the title but don't think any additions will be enough for us to actually win it next season.
Fabregas on Wenger: “He is a second father to me, the most important person in my life after my father. I am part of his family” #AFC
There seems to be an assumption here that you know the future, or that the past is clear guidance of the future.
Trophyless or classless. Given a choice, I think he would choose Arsenal over the chavs and risk being trophyless
I can't see him coming back especially after this http://www1.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/football/8743803/fabregas-staying-at-barca and this http://www1.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/football/8743803/fabregas-staying-at-barca we seem to be closing in on grenier.
He has less attraction to Barca now Pep is gone. He won't go to Bayern as Goetze is there. Bit of a blow to him that Pep didn't take him to Bayern really. I'd love him back at Arsenal. If he does have a meeting this week though I'm sure they'll tell him that he's going to replace Xavi. He's 32 I think so he'll play less games this year & Fab more. Fab will slowly take the mantle from him.
Probably nothing but when he signed for Barca didn't he make a statement saying that he'd make it up to Arsenal fans ? I'm in the 'he's going nowhere camp' but the noises are getting louder and we knew that the only club he would leave Arsenal for was Barca and we also know the only club he'd leave Barca for is Arsenal, maybe, just maybe...
He did and he is clearly still an Arsenal fan. Th thing is though.. Arsenal NEED a marquee signing. Bringing a player of Fabregas's calibre shows intent. At the moment TOP young players are reluctant to join us because we are now see as in a tier below Europe's biggest clubs. 4-5 years ago we were being thought of as one of Europe's elite - not anymore. The clubs lack of ambition has harmed the clubs International profile. Victor Wanyamjas agent.. Wenger spoke to Celtic around a month ago and Victor’s father and his mother Mildred says he would prefer to go there before any other club. ‘I will be speaking to his parents again in a week’s time and Victor also. But I already know that Arsenal have a big interest in the player. ‘Van Persie went to Arsenal then moved on later to Manchester United. Victor can do the same if he goes to Arsenal. And I believe that is what he wants. He wants to go to Arsenal.’ This needs to stop - If we can get Fabregas back or bring in another name of simular quality it will be easier to attract more of the same. It's the main reason we failed to land Juan Mata and many others in recent years. There's absolutely NO risk in spending £30 Million on a player like Fabregas in fact the club is crying out for it.
My view is that we as Arsenal fans bring this upon ourselves, with our own paranoia. Players move clubs all the time. Clubs get out-bid on players all the time. We are a top side and very, very, close to winning a title or a trophy, as soon as you do that, the talk of leaving goes away. Everybody keeps talking about RVP leaving but we didn't win the league when he was at the club and Manchester United would have won without RVP last year. There is no reason to suppose that another striker couldn't have done just as well, or nearly as well, or that Rooney wouldn't have played better with someone different and scored more or any of 50 different possibilities. I don't think anyone (including Wenger) is going to baulk at buying Fabregas back for any amount (at least) up to the same price we sold him for. But I very much doubt that it will be done in an attempt to attract other players. Arsenal are never going to buy a team of galacticos to win the league. It is a route down which we cannot go. If we try to compete on that basis we are doomed to failure, because Chelsea and Manchester City have a bottomless pot of money and we do not. We are going to have to select players that heave the balls to win a trophy by earning it themselves, or at least lead the team rather than be carried. RVP didn't have them and neither did Nasri. Arsenal fans need to realize that when we do win, ALL our players will deserve credit for having the guts to take responsibility for success on their own shoulders. Edit - This is Victor Wanyama's agent talking, but if this really is his view then he should not join us, or he should get a better agent! I mean what a monumentally arrogant, ignorant, stupid thing to say for a professional agent. If it is true and not a press wind up, **** 'em both.
The reason why we didn't win anything while RVP was playing for us is the refusal to strengthen the squad adequately and augment the talent we had. We tried to get by on the minimum and it cost us trophies.
I know that is the assumed general view, but this very short sentence simplifies a massive complexity. Chelsea and Manchester City both went out and spent massively and it took them 2 years to win. QPR this season spent massively and far from strengthening got relegated. If were so simple to strengthen a team by just forking out 30M in cash, Mark Hughes would be a top manager.
