Yep. I saw her on Room 101 a while ago and she kind of irritated me. She was saying something about the "proper British" way to have tea and whining about all these American hot beverages, coming over here and taking our tea's jobs. Well, she may not have said that last bit. What a silly thing to moan about though; who cares?

 

Looks like they have found the body of Georgia williams. So many sick ****s about these days.

 

Isn't moaning about silly things the whole point of Room 101?

 

Can't stand Room 101 since Frank Skinner started hosting it.

 

Well I agree with most people on it. It just always annoys me when people start moaning about American culture invading ours. We'll happily watch their TV and films, but god forbid we drink their coffee. Not to mention all coffee comes from over there originally anyway, and there's nothing British about tea either.

Also she hates New Year's Eve parties. How can you hate those?!

 

Yeah. Perfect couple really, unless they rant themselves to a standstill.

On another subject, Marc Marquez and Bradley Smith both had big offs during Free Practice 2 at Mugello today. Marquez lost control while doing 198mph and came off at 173. It doesn't say whether he's fit to ride tomorrow. Our Bradders highsided nastily [I must admit to fearing that occasionally when I spin up the VFR] and got his hand slightly stuck under the bike, which wore way his little finger [yes, you read that correctly]. He was interviewed later and was quite sanguine about the whole thing. He'd seen worse..!

Preferred the old format of 101 with one person and not a panel. I would put errant apostrophes, burkas and shoplifters in.

 

I've only seen her on a couple of things but she annoyed me both times, she had some of her husband's kind of stubborn bitterness but without his wit and a much larger sense of superiority.

 

I've always thought I'd love to go on there and bitch about apostrophes. Also boxers - bunch of morons.

 

Especially those stupid face offs they do before a fight.

I had a lot of sympathy with her stance. What she was getting at was not losing the everyday British culture and habits to big US beverage outlets, takeaways and American media. No, I don't want a Latte, or some triple caramel with some extra thick cream on the side. Just coffee please. And the same goes for tea and other things.

I know exactly what she means and it went deeper than just coffee and tea.

 

Yeah, so did I. I'd have no objection to Frank Skinner fronting it though.

 

Spike Milligan famously wanted to put Portsmouth in. I think he got his wish too.

Just looked on BBC website where McNulty was evaluating PL managers...the bit I liked was where he referred to Southampton as 'this fine football club'. Gave me a glow.

 

I certainly don't want one of those big creamy things, but if other people do then fair enough. I believe she complained about seeing weird kinds of tea on menus, such green tea and chai and stuff, totally disregarding the fact that these beverages long pre-date this concept of "British tea" that isn't even a real thing because we got it from India anyway. It's sort of like saying "I just want a British curry, not any of this stupid Indian stuff!"

 

To be fair, you are supposed to put outrageous things in room 101...otherwise everyone would put terrorists, murderers etc in. Hence, why Spike got a big laugh for Portsmouth.
