Amazing performance by Ralph Becket to train the 1-2 ................. but why did the ****ing stable jock pick the wrong one like me?
Some ride to win that by Hughes. Some training performance too. Think O'Brien's horses are somewhat below the standard of years gone by.
Me too Oddy. What a training performance though - I feel sorry for Jim Crowley, he is a class act. He gave an intelligent composed interview earlier, rode a great race on the favourite in the race, beat everything else only to get done by the completely unexposed stable mate, who stayed and quickened in a way that surprised everyone and probably the trainer a little. There is no way Crowley he could have got off the favourite however after the Lingfield trial. Jim's day will come I feel sure.
I won't. Two damn fine fillies there. Moth ran well to finish 4th, but what a ghastly name for a racehorse?
My comment isn't meant to be derisory towards the winner, or other runners, it simply reflects my general interest in flat racing and especially how little these Oaks winners often achieve afterwards. Apart from Snow Fairy and Ouija Board in the last 10 years I'd struggle to name any other winners but then, as I say, flat racing leaves me cold and as today proves I'm better to keep my tips to myself I'll probably watch tomorrow with keen interest purely to see if Dawn Approach can stay (and win) but I suspect he can't and won't...
Yes, Beeforsalmon, have to admit that it takes a while for me to take a bit of interest in the flat, but the Oaks and the Derby does light a bit of a flame in this old sod!
Likely best price for Dawn Approach tomorrow morning chaps? He wasn't a million miles bigger than the 11/10, 1/1 in the days before the Guineas and I think a fair few of us availed of the 2/1 Laddies, Hills and others offered in the morning... I'd stick my neck out and say with such doubts over his stamina (all todays winners were horses who stayed well at the end) I'd say at least someone will offer 7/4. These guys want your business (mine more so perhaps based on today ) and I'd say there'll be a price war on to lay the 'dodgy' stayer...
